Not even a hospital bed is going to stop Kathy Griffin from speaking her truth, and her truth is that there simply aren’t enough coronavirus tests in America for those who truly need them. So while it may seem like celebrities have first dibs (that was the general feeling when NBA players were all tested despite many having zero symptoms), that isn’t necessarily true. Celebrities and regular citizens alike aren’t able to get tested in their time of need, and Griffin wants US president Donald Trump and all of his followers to know it.“He’s lying. I was sent to the #COVID19 isolation ward room in a major hospital ER from a separate urgent care facility after showing UNBEARABLY PAINFUL symptoms,” the 59-year-old wrote on Twitter and Instagram with two accompanying photos from the hospital. She also included a snapshot of a statement from the president claiming the States have done more testing than any other nation. “The hospital couldn’t test me for #coronavirus because of CDC (Pence task force) restrictions.” While reps for the actress haven’t yet confirmed her current status or updated anyone on her health, were Griffin to be diagnosed with COVID-19 she would join other celebrities like Daniel Dae Kim, Idris Elba, Debi Mazar, Andy Cohen and Tom Hanks, who have all been diagnosed and opened up about their health over the past couple of weeks.Of course this isn’t the first time Griffin has taken direct aim at Trump’s policies or even the man himself. Let’s not forget her controversial photo from 2017, in which she held up a fake severed head of the president with quite a bit of accompanying blood. She lost a few previously scheduled gigs as a result, although her loyal fans seem to have stuck with her. After all, that kind of seems like a lifetime ago given the current status of the world.[video_embed id='1399713']RELATED: Kathy Griffin opens up about the photo that changed her life[/video_embed]It’s also been a rough month for Griffin. A little over a week ago that she lost her mother, frequent My Life on the D-List guest-star and fan-favourite Maggie Griffin, on St. Patrick’s day. She was 99 years old.“My Mom, the one and only, Maggie Griffin, passed away today. I am gutted. My best friend. I’m shaking. I won’t ever be prepared,” Griffin wrote at the time. “I’m so grateful you guys got to be part of her life. You knew her. You loved her. She knew it. Oh, and OF COURSE she went on St Patrick’s Day.”As fans await news from Griffin’s camp, the world is watching to see how Trump will handle the COVID-19 pandemic next. When the president told his country on March 6 that, “Anyone who wants a test can get a test” (officials quickly corrected him), people flooded and overwhelmed hospitals even though the tests didn’t actually exist there. “People wanted to be tested even if they weren’t symptomatic, or if they sat next to someone with a cough,” a scholar working to prepare hospitals for pandemics recently told The Atlantic.Officials are working on ways to make more tests available in the near future, but until then many people are helping out where they can—including making masks for first responders, staying home and social distancing to help flatten the curve and stop overwhelming hospitals, and donating money towards supplies. Celebs are getting in on the action too: Kylie Jenner and Arnold Schwarzenegger have each donated a million dollars to keeping those first responders outfitted and safe, while medical drams like Grey’s Anatomy, The Good Doctor and The Resident are donating their supplies to the real-life hospitals that actually need them. And so the pandemic continues.[video_embed id='1928722']RELATED: New York celebrities getting in on the "Stay Home" campaign[/video_embed]
