It’s been a while since Kanye West—rapper, fashion designer, political pundit—weighed in on how he feels about the current President of the United States. Kanye’s 2018 White House visit, during which he discussed racism, criminal justice, and mental health with Donald Trump, made headlines and shocked fans who couldn’t understand how Kanye (a man worth an estimated $240 million) could align himself with Trump (a man for whom ‘taxation’ is a four-letter word). “You don’t have to agree with Trump but the mob can’t make me not love him,” Kanye tweeted months ahead of the pair’s second official meeting. “We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don’t agree with everything anyone does. That’s what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought.”The backlash was intense but Kanye, who’s had a year and a half to think about his support of a president that is currently placing the health of the U.S. economy ahead of the health of U.S. citizens, stands firm. In a recent cover story interview with the Wall Street Journal magazine, the ‘Can’t Tell Me Nothing’ singer said: “I’m a black guy with a red [MAGA] hat, can you imagine? It reminded me of how I felt as a black guy before I was famous, when I would walk in a restaurant and people would look at you like you were going to steal something. ‘This is your place, Ye, don’t talk about apparel. This is your place, Ye, you’re black, so you’re a Democrat.’ ”[video_embed id='1927597']RELATED: Kim and Taylor both respond to that leaked Kanye call[/video_embed]Kanye, who is not registered to vote and has admitted multiple times that he pays very little attention to politics, is extremely attached to his MAGA hat and has tweeted about it on several occasions, promising (threatening?) to even perform in the cap. The WSJ profile also examined Kanye’s clothing line, Yeezy, and quoted the designer, now working on his eighth collection, as saying that a new hoodie he’s working on is “arguably the most important piece of apparel of the last decade.” Okay![video_embed id='1926465']RELATED: Trump having 'good talks' with PM Trudeau on virus[/video_embed]
