Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness is a treasure that only some of us deserve — and yet he shares himself with the entire world over multiple media platforms including his hit show, his unfailingly sweet and lovely podcast, Getting Curious, and, as of yesterday, his first children’s book, Peanut Goes For The Gold. In case you’re not up on all the JVN trivia, Queer Eye’s grooming guru is obsessed with guinea pigs (lookout, Fleabag) and so the book is somewhat of an homage to the first fuzzball he ever owned, Peanut. The book sees Peanut go after his dream of competing in rhythmic gymnastics, so that answers one of the most burning questions that’s come up for us during this quarantine:JVN was last night’s guest on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show: At Home, where he plugged his new book and gave a shout out to the charity that will be on the receiving end of the sales proceeds. He also doled out some priceless beauty advice that runs counter to a lot of other how-to videos we’ve been allowing to dominate our brains and social media feeds. While beauty bloggers and influencers keep telling us how easy it is to cut bangs or trim your own hair, Van Ness is taking a stand: for the love of all that is good in this world, leave you locks alone.[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Jonathan Van Ness reveals why that high school episode was 'nerve-wracking'[/video_embed]“The most important advice is just to not. Just don’t do it,” he told Fallon. “The average human head grows between a quarter of an inch and half an inch of hair a month. Worse case scenario this is going to give you like two, three inches of hair. Try a new look. Maybe you need a shag. Maybe you need a little bit of length. Save your haircuts. You don’t want to mess up your hair so bad you’re growing your hair out after the quarantine.”Debate over. Put those kitchen scissors away and leave the haircuts to the professionals. We need to look our best when this is over. Watch the full JVN interview below.
