Justin Bieber calls the OHL's Owen Sound Attack the best team in the galaxy

Justin Bieber may be one of the biggest pop stars in the world, but the Canadian artist has never lost sight of his roots. Bieber and his wife Hailey bought a house in Waterloo in 2019 and spend most of their time there, not far from where Bieber grew up in Stratford, Ontario. The singer returned to his hometown in a new episode of his YouTube documentary Seasons, and now Bieber is giving another Ontario city some love by throwing his support behind Owen Sound’s OHL team The Attack. Random? Yes. Appreciated? Oh yah!Late Monday night, Bieber shared a picture of himself wearing an Attack jersey while standing next to the team’s Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager, Joey Hishon. A smiling Bieber declared his love for the junior hockey team, writing “Owen Sound attack, the best team in the world, no wait universe, actually no wait galaxy.”

Sure, the galaxy is actually smaller than the universe, but we’re not here to get lost in semantics. We’re here because there is nothing Canadians love more than getting shout-outs (we are a proud but humble group) and Bieber giving some love to a small Canadian city on his Instagram account with 129 million followers is pretty exciting for a Monday. Side note, he also posted the image to Facebook, so give or take some overlap, that’s another 76 million people. Go Attack, go!A loyal Toronto Maple Leafs fan, Bieber’s latest proclamation of the Attack’s out of worldliness may come as a bit of a surprise. It’s possible the Attack are Bieber’s favourite team in the galaxy of the OHL, leaving the Leafs as his most beloved team in the NHL galaxy. Some fans were quick to point out that there are other OHL teams closer to Bieber’s home base in Waterloo, including the Guelph Storm, the Kitchener Rangers and the London Knights, but maybe the Biebs just really likes hiking around Inglis Falls and grabbing dinner at Shorty’s Grill.[video_embed id='1904206']Throwback: A 13-year-old Justin Bieber told us he saw himself having a career in R&B[/video_embed]Bieber’s connection to the Attack and more specifically Hishon isn’t quite clear, but both men are from Stratford and lifelong hockey fans. Hishon, who began his career playing for the Attack and later spent two seasons playing for the Colorado Avalanche, splits his time between coaching the OHL team and running a skills clinic. An avid hockey player, Bieber often posts Instagram stories of himself running drills, so it’s possible that Hishon is helping Bieber become the best hockey player in pop music. Admittedly, he doesn’t have much competition, but as the Great One says, “you miss 100 percent of the shots you never take.” And Bieber is the only one taking shots, so GOAL!

Bieber recently showed off his hockey skills during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon when he and Fallon competed in a series of drills. Well, Justin showed off his impressive skating abilities and Jimmy did his best to stay upright. It’s possible Fallon was intimidated by Bieber’s hockey-friendly mustache. That thing comes with an automatic five for fighting.
