It feels like fans of the adorable duo that is Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith have been waiting forever for news of their baby’s arrival—and it probably felt even longer for Turner-Smith as she waited out her ninth month in self-isolation with her husband. But on April 21, Turner-Smith finally gave birth to a healthy baby girl, a bright spot in an otherwise socially distant month.“Both mother and baby are happy and healthy,” a rep confirmed following the birth. Unfortunately that’s about all that’s been confirmed since the news broke: looks like fans will have to wait to learn the baby girl’s name, weight, and any other pertinent information they might need to fill out those baby pools. In the meantime, the couple is predictably mum; not sharing a photo immediately on social media is pretty on-brand for the notoriously private couple.
Turner-Smith and VanCity's own Jackson announced they were expecting last December, just before Christmas. Jackson opened up about becoming a father for the first time on
The Graham Norton Show, revealing that he wanted to wait until they were together before finding out whether or not they were indeed expecting. “We kind of had an inkling. Cycles change,” he said,
according to E! News. “This was literally the most joyous moment of my life. She was working out of town and I asked her to hold off a couple days before taking a test so we could do it together.”According to E! News, the last time the couple was spotted out together was in mid-March, when they stepped out for some breakfast. Since then they’ve been self-isolating at home, presumably nesting and doing all of those relaxing things couples without kids do. Puzzles? Binge-watching Jackson’s latest series,
Little Fires Everywhere, and
dwelling on his choice of tighty whities, perhaps?
Jackson and Turner-Smith first became the low-key couple of
Dawson’s Creek dreams in fall 2018 after they were spotted together at Usher’s 40
th birthday party. Since then they’ve had an equally
low-key wedding, which was confirmed last August by the fact that they picked up a marriage license at a Beverly Hills courthouse, and again last fall when they both stepped out wearing wedding bands. Giving birth during a pandemic obviously wasn’t part of their plans, which at one point included potentially
raising the babe in Canada. But, low-key or not, Jackson is looking on the positive side.“Obviously, it’s a bit stressful right now and we’re just trying to figure out how to be smart about being quarantined,”
Jackson said recently. “The medical system right now is a little bit difficult, so we’re figuring it out day by day. But she’s healthy and the baby’s healthy, so that’s important.”[video_embed id='1905429']RELATED: Jodie Turner-Smith doesn’t want to raise kids in America or the U.K.[/video_embed]
