The graduates of 2020 have got to be more than a little disappointed right now given that social distancing hasn’t just altered their graduation plans, but also that rite of passage so many John Hughes movies have popularized: the prom. But the
Pretty in Pink crew need not get too down, because John Krasinski is here to the rescue with
Some Good News and a virtual prom.“That's right class of 2020," Krasinski posted to Instagram along with a TikTok of him snapping his fingers in a classy suit before belting out “Lady in Red” in a stained t-shirt . "I'm DJing your prom with some friends this Friday 8EST/5PST! Click link in bio for invitation! See you then!" Looks like all of those pre-bought dresses and panicked people learning last-minute dance moves will be able to put their acquired fashion and newfound skills to good use after all, huh?
Because announcing a prom wasn’t enough, the
rumoured MCU star also kind of became everyone’s new dad when he posted a very grainy throwback picture of himself at his own prom. "First of all... you're welcome." he wrote. "Second of all I can't take it anymore how much you are all missing your prom. So let's do something about it!" And by “let’s” he meant himself and a few special guest stars, who have yet to be announced. Fans should probably expect a guest appearance by the actor’s wife, Emily Blunt, though. After all, what would a prom be without some kind of a love story to root for? Some
Office guest-stars wouldn’t be out of the question either. Ellie Kemper, Angela Kinsey and Kate Flannery all weighed in in the comments. “This made me snort/laugh and then tear up!!” wrote Kinsey. “So much good stuff!” At this rate, no one should be surprised if people who are just looking for a laugh or a feel-good moment tune into prom night 2020, too.
Krasinski has been living his best self-isolation life lately, bringing joy to people far and near with his
new YouTube series and its
Fun With Flags-inspired backdrop.
Michael Scott-Jim Halpert reunions and
Hamilton surprises aside, Krasinski has also been lighting it up by shouting out groups that need a bit of star power most: healthcare workers and those whose spirits need all-around lifting. Along the way he’s also gifted a Boston hospital's COVID-19 unit
a virtual visit from MLB star David Ortiz, who gave everyone Red Sox tickets for life. And all this in three episodes, by the way. At this rate could anyone blame fans for wanting to see what Krasinski will pull off next? Whatever it is, it’s hard to imagine what he’ll do to top himself and his goodwill train next.[video_embed id='1938581']RELATED: John Krasinski delights hospital staff with baseball stars and surprises[/video_embed]
