As the global pandemic continues, two groups appear to be emerging. Those who suddenly find themselves with ample free time, and those who are now busier than ever. Lady Gaga is in the second group. The popstar was scheduled to appear on
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, but she’s busy saving the world. How exactly, we’re not sure. We’ll find out Friday. Sorry, make that Monday.Fallon has been filming episodes of
The Tonight Show from his home in New York, where his backing band The Roots and announcer Steve Higgins have been temporarily replaced by Fallon’s daughters, 6-year-old Winnie and 5-year-old Franny, as well as his wife, TV producer Nancy Juvonen. Fallon has been able to keep the show going, entertaining viewers every day with his relatable struggle of suddenly finding himself working from home and homeschooling his children. We can’t say this enough – teachers are literal saints.[video_embed id='6145786873001']RELATED: iheartradio Living Room Concert: Lady Gaga[/video_embed]Fallon has continued to deliver opening monologues, break down the biggest news stories of the week, interview big name guests like
Lin-Manuel Miranda,
Kim Kardashian and
Jennifer Garner and air musical performances from the biggest popstars like
Demi Lovato. But things finally went off the rails on Wednesday when Fallon tried to FaceTime with Lady Gaga.
Sorry, she cannot hear you, she’s kinda busy. K-kinda busy. K-kinda busy.Fallon’s notoriously high-energy interview style was for once deflated during his FaceTime with Gaga. “We have a big announcement you’re going to say tonight on our show,” said Fallon at the top of the call. “I can’t Jimmy. I can’t talk right now. I’m really sorry. It’s a really weird time,” said Gaga, stopping once she realizes she’s being filmed. Interrupted by a ringing phone on Gaga’s end, Fallon tries to get the announcement back on track, but Gaga isn’t ready to tell the world…something.
“I can’t tell you everything right now because I’m still ironing out the details. I have a lot of phone calls to make,” said Gaga. Fallon offers to call her back in 10 minutes, but Gaga pushes the interview to Friday. Eventually Mother Monster does return Fallon’s call, informing him that the interview must be moved again to Monday. In 2020’s pandemic world, there are no rules. You can actually see Fallon’s brain enduring tiny explosions when Gaga moves the interview to Friday… and again when she calls back to reschedule the reschedule for Monday. Gaga does confirm that the project she’s working on is for COVID-19, so allowances will be made.Gaga announced the
delay of her highly anticipated sixth studio album
Chromatica in March. The album, which includes the lead single “
Stupid Love,” was scheduled to be released on April 10.The news was shared on Gaga's Instagram page, telling fans that she wanted to keep the focus on the COVID-19 pandemic. “This is such a hectic and scary time for all of us, and while I believe art is one of the strongest things we have to provide joy and healing to each other during times like this, it just doesn’t feel right to me to release this album with all that is going on during this global pandemic,” writes Gaga.“Instead I prefer we spend time focusing on finding solutions. It’s important to me that the attention is on getting essential medical equipment to healthcare professionals, making sure kids who depend on public schools for meals get the assistance they need, and that we help those who will be financially impacted by this pandemic.”Until Monday, Gaga.[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Brother and sister try out a new Snapchat filter with hysterical results[/video_embed]
