Jenny Slate's engagement announcement is adorable, obviously

When you know, you know. And even though Jenny Slate and Ben Shattuck haven't been together for that long, they knew. The actress revealed on Instagram on Monday that she and Shattuck are engaged and her announcement couldn't be sweeter.The slideshow of photos of Jenny and Ben's recent vacation in France was capped off by a pic of Slate, looking almost in disbelief, showing off her new engagement ring. "He took me to France and made a picnic and made me feel happy and free and then he asked me to marry him and i screamed YES," the actress-comedian captioned the photos. "I love you @benshattuck_art, you are the kindest and brightest and I am so grateful and here we go and keep going." Shattuck, an artist and writer, also shared the news on Instagram with his own array of pics and a loving message that revealed a little more about his proposal. "In an abandoned castle in southern France, I asked this woman to marry me. Here she is in front of a door the color of her soul. In LA / MA / Holland / Belgium / France thank you @jennyslate and UP UP UP to more adventures."

Slate and Shattuck were first photographed together at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, in January. They had their arms around each other, she had her head on his shoulder, he gave her a kiss on the forehead, and according to Us Weekly's source at the time, they looked "very cozy" and "seemed cute together." And we have to agree.In a podcast earlier this summer, Slate never mentioned Shattuck by name but revealed that she had recently come to the realization that she had never been in a healthy relationship until now, and that she had to "figure out what I thought about myself when a man was not defining that for me."While speaking on Refinery29's Unstyled Slate said, "I have this faith now— I do—that I can have this beautiful relationship with this man that I deeply love. That I can have a full life, that I can live on this peninsula in Massachusetts where I live right now, and have my career, and that I can feel beauty in myself in so many ways."Slate previously dated her Gifted co-star Chris Evans. Their relationship began in 2016 and they were together for about a year but based on the attention their union received online, you would think they were an item for much longer. They broke up, remained friendly and reunited shortly after but by March 2018 they were done for good.The actress was also married to comedian Dean Fleischer-Camp for four years, and created stop-motion sensation Marcel the Shell With Shoes On together, before their separation in May 2016.Congrats to Jenny and Ben!
