The artist formerly known as P. Diddy showed off some sweet, sweet dance moves for charity over the weekend, and he had some help from a very famous former fling. Not only did the artist’s kids join in for the social distancing dance-a-thon, Jennifer Lopez also got in on the action. Naturally, fans everywhere were delighted to see Jenny from the Block and the “Last Night” singer reunite for a good cause. Even Lopez’s current fiancé, Alex Rodriguez, got involved. On April 12 Diddy, a.k.a. Sean Combs, called upon fans and celebrity friends alike to join him and his kids in a dance-a-thon to raise money for Direct Relief, a nonprofit organization that is supporting the emergency response to COVID-19. “Here’s a story.... of a man named Diddy,” Combs posted on Instagram alongside a video with his kids in a Brady Bunch-inspired shot. “HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!!!!!!! See you at 3PM EST today for the biggest dance-a-thon in the world!!! Raising money and showing appreciate to our healthcare workers!!!!! TEAMLOVE.COM to donate.”
At one point after the festivities kicked off, Lopez and Rodriguez popped onto the Instagram Live to show their support. “Hey I love you guys, I can’t wait until we see each other again,” Combs said, according to People. “May God bless y’all, and I just love you guys!” Rodriguez responded that he loves Combs too, while Lopez added, “We love what you’re doing, we love everybody out there. We want to send you all the love in the world, from our family to yours.” She also joked that she probably taught Diddy the salsa moves he had on full display. Combs and Lopez started dating in 1999, back when The Sopranos was first debuting, American Beauty was THE movie to watch, and everyone was still grooving out to “Mambo No 5.” The couple dated for two years before calling it quits in early 2001. Coincidentally, that’s also the time Combs changed his name from “Puff Daddy” to “P. Diddy.” (He’s now going by Sean “Love” Combs, in case you missed the memo.) The two have been pretty friendly ever since though, and they even reunited in 2018 during Lopez’s All I Have Las Vegas residency show wrap party in Vegas.
Lopez and Rodriguez weren’t the only stars to stop by the virtual party though. There were a couple of notable Canadians, including Justin Bieber and Drake, who shared their own sweet dance moves and head nods, while Demi Lovato, Snoop Dogg, Kelly Rowland, Shaq and DJ Khaled also all stopped by while social distancing. As it turns out, celebrities dancing is actually a great motivator for fans to dig deep into those pockets. So far Team Love has raised a whopping $3.7 million and counting, money that will provide funds to “healthcare organizations and professionals who care for medically underserved communities,” according to the official website. “Team Love also cares for these communities, which are often Black & Brown and disproportionately affected by emergencies like this pandemic.”Raising awareness and money while having fun and dancing with family and friends… Sounds like the former “Bad Boy 4 Life” really is all about the Love these days.[video_embed id='1935643']RELATED: JLo says the quarantine has affected her wedding plans[/video_embed]
