Jason Momoa and Chris Pratt may be friends who play superheroes (separately) and animated Lego characters (together), but that doesn’t mean they’re afraid to call one another out when necessary. Case in point, Chris Pratt posed with a single-use plastic bottle and Jason Momoa quickly let his friend know that he was killing the ocean. This is what we call a ‘teachable moment.’Pratt is the latest celebrity to team up with Amazon for a curated list of his favourite goods. Past registries have included Jennifer Lawrence sharing her commonly used household items for her wedding and Blake Lively revealing the products that have helped her raise three kids. As for Pratt, his gym registry is a behind the scenes look at how his glow up from Pawnee to Jurassic Park happened. According to the registry, it was a lot of protein bars and a NordicTrack. The actor announced his new Amazon partnership on Tuesday with an innocuous enough Instagram post, playfully teasing his serious gym pose and writing “You’re probably wondering why I’m standing here, low key flexing, gazing into the distance... well, turns out I'm teaming up with @amazon to show you guys everything I use for my workouts, keeping active, and all that fun stuff to get you prepped for 2020.” Unfortunately, Pratt’s biceps were quickly overshadowed (we know, shocking!) by the single use plastic water bottle in his hand.Pratt’s Lego Movie co-star Jason Momoa was quick to call out his friend, writing in Pratt’s comments “bro i love u but wtf on the water bottle. no single use plastic. come on.” Momoa has been a vocal environmental activist, addressing the UN in September and calling on world leaders to stop ‘half-assing it’ when it comes to climate change. Khal Drogo really is the coolest. Momoa even publicly announced he would not film Aquaman 2 if Warner Brothers engaged in telescope construction to build a larger set for the film in his native Hawaii.
Momoa’s comment on Pratt’s Instagram has received over 48,000 likes, with Pratt now responding to his friend and clarifying that he does typically drink from reusable water bottles. “Aquaman! You’re completely right. Dammit. I always carry my big gallon size reusable water jug around with me too. I even had it that day,” wrote Pratt. “If I remember correctly somebody threw that plastic bottle to me in the photo shoot cause I didn’t know what to do with my hands! I never know what to do with my hands! So uncomfortable. For real tho. Love you too buddy. My bad. I don’t want your home of Atlantis covered in plastic. Hear that kids? Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.”The response to the pic has been mixed. Some followers commented that it’s ‘just a picture,’ while others applauded Momoa and Pratt for educating people about one-use plastic. Momoa owns his own aluminum canned water company and didn’t plug Mananalu in his comment on Pratt’s photo, which is a solid indicator that he really is here for the oceans. Moon of our life.Momoa’s comments turned Pratt’s post into headline grabbing news on Tuesday and the Game of Thrones star was quick to share a picture of the actors together with Momoa’s children, making it clear that the Momoa family has nothing but love for Star-Lord. “I’m sorry this was received so badly today I didn’t mean for that to happen,” wrote Momoa. “I’m just very passionate about this single use plastic epidemic. the plastic water bottles have to stop i hope u make a reusable water bottle for amazon so we all can purchase. You’re an inspiration to many I’m one of them.” Maybe Aquaman really is going to save us all.
