Jane Fonda is showing that you can get fit and save the planet at the same time. At any age. Even during a global pandemic. Well, we’ve run out of excuses. The actor and activist is continuing to use her platform to raise awareness for climate change even while under quarantine, turning to TikTok to reach the masses.Fonda joined TikTok this week and shared her first video, which included an announcement that the Hollywood icon was bringing back her famous workout videos. “Hello TikTok! My name is Jane Fonda and I’m bringing back the Jane Fonda Workout during this home sequestration, so come on and do it with me,” said Fonda, who traded her bodysuit and leg warmers from the famous
1980s VHS workout videos for a long sleeve workout shirt and pants. Fonda performs a few leg lifts before switching up the clip and appearing in her now famous red jacket that became Fonda’s uniform for her Fire Drill Fridays."Do you know what? There are too many workouts happening right now on television and on computers,” declares Fonda. “What I really would like you to do is work out with me for the planet. There’s a climate crisis that’s a real emergency. Whether you’re on your couch or your yoga mat, will you join me for the virtual Fire Drill Fridays,” asks Fonda. “The future needs you.”
Fonda ends the video with instructions for viewers to tune in on Friday, April 3 at 11 a.m. PT where the first virtual Fire Drill Friday will take place. Fonda is hosting the event with Greenpeace and according to
E! News, the virtual Fire Drill Fridays will include appearances from some of Fonda’s famous friends, including Chelsea Handler, Piper Perabo, Amber Valetta, Alyssa Milano, Norman Lear and Marisa Tomei.Fonda began her Fire Drill Friday protests with Greenpeace in October 2019. The actor often brought big names to the protests in Washington and California, which saw the
Grace and Frankie star arrested more than a dozen times along with fellow protestors like Lily Tomlin, Ted Danson, Sam Waterson and Brooklyn Decker.
