Author J.K. Rowling has changed her tune on fellow scribe Stephen King after he showed his support for the transgender community and trans women on social media. The Harry Potter creator, who is currently embroiled in a war of words with British MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle, posted a tweet to her official Twitter account, quoting the late feminist thinker Andrea Dworkin, who said that men tend to react to women’s views as acts of violence. The It author retweeted her, prompting Rowling to post glowing praise for King. It’s so much easier for men to ignore women's concerns, or to belittle them, but I won't ever forget the men who stood up when they didn't need to. Thank you, Stephen.”Seeing as how the Fantastic Beasts author’s quarrel with MP Russell-Moyle has to do with trans-issues, fans of King’s asked him to clarify his stance on transgender issues and specifically, if he aligns himself with Rowling’s TERF (trans-exclusionary rights feminist) tendencies.King replied, “Trans women are women.” That seems to have triggered the ego of Rowling, because she has since deleted her praise of King, and some fans have even stated that she has unfollowed him as well. All of this comes on the heels of Rowling sparking the ire of the transgender community, and even many Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts actors, after she took issue with the wording of a devex.com article, which used the trans-inclusionary phrase “People who menstruate.” Rowling tweeted that she was sure there was, “a word for those people. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?” causing many in Hollywood, including, Daniel Radcliffe, Eddie Redmayne, and Emma Watson to voice their opposition to her views, and distance themselves from their former colleague. This isn’t the first time Rowling has made inflammatory remarks concerning the transgender community. Back in December, she showed her support for British researcher Maya Forstater who was fired for her trans-exclusionary stance on sex and gender. Rowling tweeted, “Call yourself whatever you like. Sleep with any consenting adult who'll have you. Live your best life in peace and security. But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real? #IStandWithMaya #ThisIsNotADrill.”As Rowling’s views on sex and gender seem immune to change, many authors signed to the same literary agency have left the agency’s roster in protest.[video_embed id='1986248']BEFORE YOU GO: Miley performs to an empty stadium for Global Goal concert[/video_embed]
