It’s a bird, it’s a plane… nope, it’s just Henry Cavill trying that famous Superman cape back on for size. According to reports the actor is eyeing a return to the skies as the Man of Steel in an upcoming DC Comics movie, causing the hopes of fans everywhere to soar.
Variety claims Cavill and the powers that be
are currently “in talks” to bring his version of Clark Kent back to life, although no one is officially commenting on the news just yet. As far as the publication knows this won’t be a standalone
Superman movie though; instead Cavill will potentially make an appearance as the hero in one of the company’s upcoming flicks.[video_embed id='5834501611001']RELATED: Is Henry Cavill done as Superman? Here's what we know so far[/video_embed]But which movie could he make cameo in? Considering
Wonder Woman 1984 and
Suicide Squad have finished filming, we know it won’t be one of those flicks. It’s also unlikely that fans will see Cavill suit up for Robert Pattinson’s take on
The Batman. That leaves
Aquaman 2,
Black Adam and Shazam 2 on the table over at DC. One thing is for sure, and that’s that superhero fans are all about the hidden Easter eggs and crossovers. Wherever Cavill winds up it should be a fun surprise for sure—if the sneaky producers manage to actually keep it a surprise that is. (Anyone care to place bets?)Cavill starred in director Zack Snyder’s
Man of Steel back in 2013, and he took up the role again in 2016 for
Batman v Superman and in 2017 for
Justice League. Speaking of
Justice League, Cavill recently helped Snyder make the announcement that a director’s cut of the film is heading to HBO Max. As far as
Variety insiders are concerned though, Cavill definitely won’t be filming anything new for that.
Wherever Clark Kent’s journey takes him next, this is the news everyone has been waiting for since Cavill hinted he wasn’t quite done with the role. “The cape is still in the closet,” he
told Men’s Health in December. “It’s still mine. I’m not going to sit quietly in the dark as all the stuff is going on. I’ve not given up the role. There’s a lot I have to give for Superman yet. A lot of storytelling to do. A lot of real, true depths to the honesty of the character I want to get into. I want to reflect the comic books. That’s important to me. There’s a lot of justice to be done for Superman. The status is: You’ll see.”We certainly will.[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Rescued baby crows learn to eat from chopsticks [/video_embed]
