X Æ A-12 has gotten his first software upgrade! The first child of Canadian songstress Grimes and Tesla CEO Elon Musk made waves a couple weeks ago after it was revealed his eccentric parents had given him perhaps the most unique name in celebrity baby-name history (Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow, you’re off the hook). But now, Grimes has revealed that they changed their little bundle of joy’s name to something that complies with California state law. If you were hoping for something like Gabe or Nate, we regret to inform you that the name change isn’t as big as you’d think. On Grimes’ latest (non-baby-related) Instagram post, she responded to a fan comment asking for the new name deets with the ever-so-slight change of, “X Æ A-Xii.” So it appears the couple only replaced the number 12 at the end to the Roman numeral equivalent, which would effectively make it valid in the eyes of California state law, where the child was born. For those still uncertain how to pronounce such a name, Grimes also responded to a comment asking about how they refer to their child with a vague, "he has many names." No kidding.[caption id="attachment_4937006" align="alignleft" width="960"]Grimes Instagram comment baby name @grimes/Instagram[/caption]In an email to USA Today, the California Department of Public Health confirmed, “A name like 'X Æ A-12' would not be allowed. Vital records must be completed with the 26 alphabetical characters of the English language and appropriate punctuation such as hyphens, apostrophes, periods, and commas.”When another Insta-fan asked Grimes if the change from numbers was indeed due to this law, Grimes responded, “Roman numerals. Looks better tbh.” Later in the comments section, Grimes also added that “one dash is allowed” when questioned whether the name still met the law requirements.[video_embed id='1880995']RELATED: Maye Musk says she knew her son Elon was special when he was three years old [/video_embed]If you’re still scratching your head over this baby name, Grimes tweeted out an explanation after the birth that explains the reasoning behind every character. “X, the unknown variable,” she wrote. “Æ, my elven spelling of AI (love &/or artificial intelligence). A-12 = prescursor to SR-17 (our favourite aircraft).” Her Space-X CEO partner later corrected her, adding that it’s the SR-71 spacecraft (because of course SR-17 would be ludicrous!).[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Soccer-loving dog scores on owner [/video_embed]
