Rihanna is the kind of woman who needs no introduction. And a May cover for British Vogue? That is something we definitely needed, and something Rihanna certainly deserved. Celebrating her continued mastery of all things music, beauty, fashion and lingerie, Rihanna poses for the cover wearing a durag — a first for the famed magazine.
The author’s description of her was everything we imagined. Bashful generosity and stylish beauty paired with an impossible-to-ignore presence. Or, as the writer so eloquently states, “a woman who has mastered living in her own skin, who has nothing to hide.” But while the interview confirmed many of our beliefs about the pop-star turned business mogul, it also provided us with some morsels of inside information. With each reveal, we seem to peel back the curtain on Rihanna — and this life and empire she’s created for herself — just a little bit further. And some of it may surprise you… Motherhood Isn't Far Off Rihanna’s mantra is simple, “Life is really short. You don’t have a lot of time to tolerate sh*t, you know?” And 10 years from now? Well, the star claims she’ll be ancient (as if!) and that she’ll be a mother — of 3 to 4 kids, to be precise. Speaking to her work ethic and plan for the future, Rih explains that she’ll live differently later in life, and is ready to step into the role of motherhood. When asked if she would consider being a single mother, the star didn’t miss a beat. “Hell, yeah,” she replied, “The only thing that matters is happiness, that’s the only healthy relationship between a parent and a child. That’s the only thing that can raise a child truly, is love.”New Music is Coming... Soon It’s no secret, we’ve all been dying for Rihanna to release new music. But even as her epic Savage X Fenty fashion show unleashed it’s creative magic onto our TV screens and we revelled over the announcement of a documentary following her life, no album announcement came. And now? Well, she still doesn’t have any concrete promises for us.Rihanna explains, quite pointedly, that “There are no rules. There’s no format. There’s just good music, and if I feel it, I’m putting it out. I feel like I have no boundaries. I’ve done everything – I’ve done all the hits, I’ve tried every genre – now I’m just, I’m wide open. I can make anything that I want.” Well, damn. What we’re currently lacking in patience, Rihanna makes up for in tenured confidence. Whenever she drops the album (nicknamed R9) — we have no doubt it will be epic. Her Sleeping Schedule No rest for the wicked, Rihanna included. The interview notes that, rather than opting for a more traditional sleep pattern, Rih prefers to take “pockets” (which we can only assume are some form of power nap). Apparently, these are more compatible with her creative rhythms (tbh we’re tired just thinking about it). But I guess napping is Rihanna's secret sauce? She Doesn’t Like Her Voice You know how most of us hate hearing our own voice? Do you cringe when you listen to your own voicemail? Well, we would have assumed A-list celebrities with incredible vocal talents were immune to this aversion, but apparently not. When addressing her recent speech at the NAACP Image Awards, Rihanna explained that she hasn’t watched it back because she can’t stand listening to her voice. Oh, she also mentioned that she (as in Rihanna herself) still gets anxiety before big events, explaining “I’m nervous before even getting in the car to go to something. It can be devastating.”She's A Perfectionist by Nature Considering her monumental success, this may not be a total surprise — but it’s certainly a satisfying confirmation. Rihanna notes that when it comes to her fashion line (and, we would guess, everything she does), everything has to be perfect. The star explains, “I refuse to release anything that is not up to par with my quality level. The angle of a hem, the size of a sleeve, the stitch… If it’s not the right stitch that I want.” [video_embed id='1929869']RELATED: Rihanna blesses us with a new song.[/video_embed]
