Emma Stone may be one of the busiest actresses in Hollywood but as far as her personal life goes, she has always been fiercely private. What we do know is that she has been with her boyfriend, Dave McCary, for a while and the two just made it official. So official, in fact, that they did the unthinkable: took to social media to announce the wonderful news.That's right, live from Instagram, it's Emma's engagement ring. While Stone is not on the social media platform, McCary is and they were more than happy to share the news on Wednesday. No words were needed, just a simple hearts emoji, because the pic of Dave and Emma, grinning like loons, as she held her newly ringed finger up to the camera, did all the talking. It's unclear whether the proposal actually took place then or that's just when they decided to make it known to the world; either way, based on their overjoyed faces, it seems long overdue. Or pretty perfect. Yeah, let's go with the latter.Stone — who dated her Amazing Spider-Man co-star, Andrew Garfield, for four years before they split in 2015 — and McCary, a writer and director on Saturday Night Live, were first spotted together in the summer of 2017 and a few months later, the romance rumours began. But it's believed that something may have sparked between the two the year before, when she hosted SNL in December 2016. Whenever they started, they've always liked to keep things as low-key as possible. Emma and Dave are rarely photographed together, except for the odd NBA game they're attending or if the paparazzi snaps them walking down the streets of NYC. In fact, their engagement announcement pic is the first time Dave has posted anything about Emma on his account. And he couldn't have picked a better one to start with.
It was just this past January that the couple enjoyed a glamorous date night out at the 2019 SAG Awards, and it was the first big event where they were photographed together. McCary was there to support Stone, who was nominated in two categories.
