Eminem had a scary wake-up call this week when an intruder broke into his home and set off the alarm. The perpetrator was able to get past Eminem’s security team and make his way into the rapper’s living room, where Eminem came face-to-face with the culprit. Thankfully, the Grammy winner was not harmed and the intruder was quickly apprehended by Eminem’s security team and arrested. The break-in happened earlier this month and according to
TMZ, Eminem’s security team were monitoring the front of his home. The intruder reportedly got past security by making his way to the back of the Detroit-area home, which is located in a gated community. Around 4 AM, the 26-year-old suspect used a paving stone to break a kitchen window and climb into the house.[video_embed id='1497540']RELATED: Eminem hit back at critics of his new album with a full page ad[/video_embed]The broken window set off the home's security alarm and woke up Eminem, who confronted the suspect in his living room. Well, that’s terrifying and very Season 4 of
This Is Us. TMZ did not report whether the suspect was armed, but either way that is not how anyone wants to wake up. Eminem’s security team also heard the alarm and quickly restrained the suspect before calling police. In a case that is eerily similar to Eminem’s famous 2000 single “Stan,” the intruder reportedly did not want to steal anything but only wanted a face-to-face meeting with the musician. Well, he got it, but we’re pretty sure he didn’t leave with an autograph. The hip-hop website XXL is disputing some of the details shared by TMZ. According to
XXL, a rep for Eminem told them that the rapper was not asleep when the break-in occurred and that he was the one to restrain the suspect until police arrived and not his security team. Admittedly, that does make for cooler story if you’re Eminem. Considering the infrequency of Eminem’s public statements and interviews, we may have to wait until his next album to get the full chain of events. Both websites do agree that an intruder was arrested after breaking into Eminem’s home and have shared the suspect’s mug shot. Eminem is the latest celebrity to deal with the fan breaking into their home. In March,
Jennifer Lawrence and her husband Cooke Maroney were home when a fan of Lawrence’s got past her security team and opened her unlocked front door. Being a celebrity comes with lots of perks, but home invasion is not one of them. When not dealing with intruders, Eminem has been doing his part to help support frontline workers and raise money for COVID-19 relief. The rapper recently donated lunch to workers at the
Henry Ford Hospital in his hometown of Detroit. Eminem has also started a
relief fund for DJs in Michigan, which includes a stimulus check and the chance to be featured on his Sirius XM radio station. Just yesterday, Eminem announced on his Instagram that he is auctioning off a pair of his custom
