Is social distancing really so bad if you can just phone up John Legend and Chrissy Teigen any time you feel like it? Ellen DeGeneres is used to talking to celebrities day in and day out. It is, after all, her job. It is not, however, a job one can do while maintaining the rule of social distancing (aka our new reality). So Ellen, with the help of her partner Portia de Rossi, has come up with a workaround. Instead of welcoming her famous guests to sit down for a chat on her talk show studio couch, she simply phones them from one of the couches in her house, putting her celeb pals on speaker phone while de Rossi films the conversation. It’s a less formal version of her regular show. Don’t expect any makeup or wardrobe. Do expect pyjamas and creative uses of sofa cushions.
