Simone Johnson comes from a long line of wrestling royalty, and she's putting her lineage to good use. The 18-year-old daughter of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has just signed with the WWE, making her the first fourth-generation athlete to get in the ring with the wrestling organization. The teen announced her signing to the WWE on Instagram, captioning her photo with a message of inspiration for young WWE fans who also want to wrestle. “To the little girl who fell in love with wrestling and said ‘this will be my life one day’, this is for you,” writes Johnson. “I’m humbled, grateful and ready to work. Let’s do this.”
Dwayne Johnson was quick to congratulate his daughter on her new career move, posting a loving message on Instagram. Writing “dreams ain’t just for dreamers,” Johnson touched on his daughter’s incredible lineage, adding “Carry our family name proudly, but your road will always be yours to create, earn and own. So proud. Live your dream. Let’s work.”
Simone’s mother Dany Garcia, who continues to run
Seven Buck Productions with her ex-husband Dwayne Johnson, also congratulated her daughter for joining WWE NXT. Garcia has recently begun
fitness modelling, which means Simone will have no issues getting advice on meal prep or workouts from either of her very impressive, very ripped parents.
Simone began training part time at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando in 2018, and since graduating from high school she has put her full-time efforts into the sport. The young wrestler admitted in a 2019 interview that one of her biggest fears is living up to her family’s legacy. “Never meeting expectations that I have on myself, I think that would probably be the biggest one. And just, like, not living up to the legacy,”
said Simone when asked about her wrestling fears. “But then, when I think about that, I also feel like that’s, in a way, comparing myself. So, I feel like probably just never falling into that trap of comparing myself.”Simone’s father Dwayne Johnson won eight WWE championships during his time with the professional wrestling organization and headlined Wrestlemania. Dwayne’s
father Rocky Johnson was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2008 after spending years breaking down barriers for other wrestlers, including his work with Tony Atlas to become the first black tag team to win the championship in 1983. In 2008, Dwayne Johnson also inducted his late maternal grandfather “High Chief” Peter Maivia into the WWE hall of fame.
The Johnson and Maivia family are one of the best-known dynasties in wrestling, but they’re not alone. The Hart family have made a huge impact on wresting through Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Tyson Kidd, David Hart Smith and Natalya Neidhart, who has been instrumental in pushing the women’s division to the forefront of the WWE. The Anoa’Is, the McMahons, the Guerreros, and the Vachons have also made their mark as a families in the WWE and beyond.[video_embed id='1882661']RELATED: Dwayne Johnson responded to Ben Mulroney's tweet in the best way [/video_embed]
