The Duchess of Sussex has some royal daddy problems. It's been a while since we've heard any updates about Meghan's legal battle, but the latest report somehow feels both shocking and unsurprising: Meghan's father, Thomas Markle, is set to testify against his daughter in her case against the publisher of the Mail on Sunday. And he wonders why he's never met Prince Harry or baby Archie.According to The Sun, Markle has already given lawyers any pertinent, never-before-seen text exchanges with Meghan, and is expected to be called as a key witness for the defence. The court documents reportedly outline just how bad things got between father and daughter and claim Meghan was behind the "smear campaign" against him. The docs also allege that "intimate details" of the Markles' estranged relationship that supposedly came from Meghan's friends actually came from the Duchess herself.[video_embed id='1876082']RELATED: Why Meghan Markle was absent from Monday's royal summit[/video_embed]Meghan is suing the publisher for damages after it published a "private and confidential" letter she wrote to Thomas three months after her wedding, a "time of great personal anguish and distress." According to her lawyers, the letter included her "intimate thoughts and feelings about her father's health and her relationship with him at that time" and the newspaper "chose to deliberately omit or suppress" relevant sections of the letter. Meghan is claiming it was misuse of her private information and breach of copyright and is seeking damages. The publisher has denied the allegations. Thomas claims he kept her handwritten note to himself for months but only released it after "false" stories were written about Meghan's attempt at fixing their relationship. The defence is also accusing Meghan of using friends to pressure U.K. journalists to drop stories about her. So basically what all famous people do, but sure, whatever.Markle added that the last time he heard from Meghan was when he told her he couldn't attend her wedding. He claimed he made several attempts to contact her but she never responded and his reaction was to speak out about his daughter and criticize the British Royal Family in multiple interviews. If the case isn't settled out of court, Meghan will also likely be called as a witness and be forced to hand over private texts, emails and phone records. The Duchess, who has been laying low, was seen on Vancouver Island on her way back to the mainland where she visited the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre.
