The Mickey Mouse Club has just become a little more inclusive. On Wednesday, The Walt Disney Company announced that it is allocating $5 million to put towards advancing social justice and equality. And a huge chunk of that change – a cool $2 million – is going directly to the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP).Making the statement on their official website, and spreading the word on their social media, the statement quoted Bob Chapek, CEO of Disney, “The killing of George Floyd has forced our nation to once again confront the long history of injustice that black people in America have suffered, and it is critical that we stand together, speak out and do everything in our power to ensure that acts of racism and violence are never tolerated. This $5 million pledge will continue to support the efforts of nonprofit organizations such as the NAACP that have worked tirelessly to ensure equality and justice.”[video_embed id='1969694']RELATED: Drake & The Weeknd make large donations to BLM groups[/video_embed] The company, which previously provided $2.5 million to the United Negro College Fund, also continues the Disney Employee Matching Gifts program, which allows employees to donate to eligible charitable organizations with Disney matching that donation.Variety is reporting that the $5 million donation comes amidst the company reporting a $69.57 billion revenue for the fiscal year of 2019 – something that many Disney fans pointed out on social media after Disney tweeted the announcement. However a huge chunk of fans are applauding the move as a step in the right direction.[video_embed id='1969669']BEFORE YOU GO: Trudeau pauses before answering question on Trump[/video_embed]
