Bad Boy may be for life, but names come and go. At least that’s true for rapper, actor, businessman, and chronic name changer Sean Combs, who has now filed the legal paperwork to change his middle name from John to Love. Really, Danger wasn’t an option? The Blast is reporting that Sean Combs, who had previously been going by Diddy, submitted a petition in a Los Angeles County court on October 23 to officially change his name from Sean John Combs to Sean Love Combs. This may have been a good time for someone to remind Diddy that his clothing line is Sean John, not Sean Love. That’s a lot of logos to change.Sean Love Combs has been known by many monikers since going from producer to artist and breaking into the mainstream rap world back in the mid-1990s. Known then as Puff Daddy, Combs has gone by Puffy, P. Diddy and most recently Diddy. His most recent name change and the addition of Love doesn’t come as a total shock. Diddy previously tried to incorporate the word ‘love’ into his name in an unofficial capacity, tweeting on his 48th birthday in 2017 that he would no longer answer to his previous names but instead was going by Love aka Brother Love. “I’m just not who I am before. I’m something different. So, my new name is Love, aka Brother Love,” said Diddy in the Twitter video. “I’ve been praying on this. I know it’s risky. It could come off as corny to some people.” Two days later, Diddy cleared up any confusion and admitted he was joking about his new name. “Today I’ve come to the conclusion that you cannot play around with the internet,” said Diddy in an Instagram video. “Due to the overwhelming response from the media out there, and due to there just wanting there to be any confusion, I was only joking. I didn’t change my name. It was just part of one of my alter egos, and one of my alter egos is Love.” The producer added that he plans to still go by his older names as well as Love.
Now Diddy is making things official and filing with the court system. For someone who is constantly working on multiple projects at once, Diddy seems to have ample time for paperwork. In July, Sean Love Combs announced that he was bringing back MTVs Making The Band, with the revamped reality series opening up its admission window to applicants around the world. Good luck to all the contestants who now must figure out how to address him.[video_embed id='1658348']Diddy apologized to A-Rod for leaving a flirty comment on J.Lo’s pic[/video_embed]
