Childhood friends and co-stars Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez may no longer be BFFs, but that doesn’t mean that Lovato is going to let the social media trolls set her up for a renewed feud with her fellow pop star. When what Lovato says are doctored tweets began circulating on social media over the last few days, she fired up her Instagram account to refute the rumours. The tweets in question were credited to Demi’s relatively new fiance, Max Ehrich, and seemed to show him professing his love for Gomez along with his dream of one day marrying her. Since the tweets have gone viral, Ehrich has reportedly shut down his account so we can’t go investigate, but screenshots of him gushing about Gomez have been
saved for posterity — or, as Lovato claims, doctored to create drama.“It’s really sad when people FAKE images to put women against each other. If women have conflict that’s between them NOT YOU,”
Lovato wrote on Instagram. “But then I stop and think.. it’s hella rude but damn.. I get it. And I don’t wanna look at what’s really happening in the world either but WE HAVE TO. Yes, it’s easier to tear apart celebrities and their relationships because 2020 sucks and scares the s—t out of us all but it’s only gonna stay terrifying until we address it all and WORK ON SOLUTIONS TOGETHER.”[video_embed id='2033617']RELATED: Demi Lovato's new collab proves it's 'OK Not to Be OK'[/video_embed]Lovato continued with her generous ability to see both sides of the celebrity gossip equation, writing, “So while on one hand I understand and have compassion for those who are so horrified at the reality of 2020 that they gotta distract themselves with doctored images in order to not focus on how bad these times are, but on the other hand, if you aren’t 13 years old trying to grasp the reality of right now, put on your adult underpants and write about what actually matters. Please.”For his part, Ehrich has professed his admiration for
both Gomez and Lovato in the past, before he had a real connection to either one of them.
An old Instagram Live has Ehrich saying, “Honestly I think Selena Gomez is an extraordinary woman. What she stands for charity-wise, just being an activist, she just has a great heart. Her heart is in the right place. She loves Jesus. She loves God. She’s just like, she’s an angel, and I love her, but on top of that, I respect her musically and I want to make music with her.”And an old Twitter post has him professing that all he “wanted for Christmas was Demi Lovato.” What we’re saying is, this is a whole lot of drama for less than 140 characters.[video_embed id='2033610']Before you go: We all love a good rom-com, and this one is Selena Gomez produced[/video_embed]
