Demi Lovato says she's no longer friends with Selena Gomez

Remember Barney & Friends? The hit kids show may have starred a big purple dinosaur with a cloying voice but it also launched the careers of both Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez. The two superstars got their start singing along with Barney before landing Disney Channel roles and, eventually, achieving international popstar status. But even a bond forged that early in life isn’t always everlasting. Lovato, now a Harper’s Bazaar covergirl, admitted in her interview with the magazine that she is no longer tight with her old pal, Selena.“When you grow up with somebody, you’re always going to have love for them. But I’m not friends with her, so [the Instagram post] felt …,” she told Harper’s, allowing for a long pause that spoke multitudes.The social media post Lovato is referring to is the Instagram photo she posted immediately following her hiatus-ending Grammy performance back in late January. Until then, the singer had been away from the stage for nearly two years following a drug overdose that nearly cost her her life. Gomez weighed in in the comments section, writing, “I wish there were words to describe how beautiful, inspirational and DESERVED this moment was. Demi I’m so happy for you. In terms of her other old Disney pals, Demi says she’s still close with Miley Cyrus. Both Lovato and Gomez have appeared on Miley’s social distancing podcast project, Bright Minded, where Gomez revealed her bi-polar diagnosis and Lovato discussed anxiety and body-shaming. “I talk to Miley,” Demi told Harper’s. “She’s awesome, and I love her to death and always will, always have.
