Young love in Hollywood doesn't last forever—just ask Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth. But when
Riverdale stars Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart reportedly broke up earlier this summer after two years of dating, we all mourned the (off-screen) end of Bughead. But a couple days after the split reports surfaced, Reinhart
posted a pic from the pair's
W magazine shoot with a glorious and cryptic caption that read, "BREAKING: A reliable source has confirmed that none of you know shit." What does it all mean? Well, accompanying their magnificent cover shoot was
a feature on the actors, for which the two requested separate interviews and only fanned the flames of their flame-out. In it, they not only subtly spoke about their real-life romance but also how if things ever go awry with their characters, things could get complicated. "If and when we break up on the show, I don't know. It's weird being with an actor. You deal with sh*t no one has to deal with."Despite the on-screen shenanigans of Jughead and Betty, Cole and Lili have always tried to keep their relationship close to the vest. They didn't confirm their relationship until they attended the 2018 Met Gala together, even though rumours that they began dating first surfaced a year before. But now, after
all the rumours and reports that these two were done in July, Sprouse decided to baffle us even more—but at least he's doing it in an amazing way.September 13th marked Reinhart's birthday and in honour of her 23rd year, Sprouse celebrated with a series of PDA-packed photos of the two of them. "Lil @lilireinhart was born on a Friday the 13th and haven't I just been so lucky ever since?" read his caption. So, going strong then?
Their "breakup" was also questioned last month when
Reinhart shared a pic of Sprouse on the actor's 27th birthday, along with a poem she had written to pay tribute to him.Perhaps Sprouse is also celebrating the success of
Hustlers, Reinhart's first big role since she broke out with
Riverdale and which has been receiving massive love from critics and audiences. The movie, lead by Jennifer Lopez who's been getting
serious Oscar buzz, made a splash during its
massive TIFF premiere last week. While it didn't come in first (that honour went to
It: Chapter Two for the second-straight week),
Hustlers came in at second at the box office and brought in
an impressive $33.2 million, JLo's biggest opening weekend to date.Either way, Reinhart is having a banner year. And if she and Sprouse are still together, it's safe to say that not only she, but
they, are in a pretty good place. And if Lili and Cole want to continue keeping fans on their toes, they're doing a damn fine job.
