Maybe it’s the recent quarantine, or perhaps it’s the general vibe right now given the current political and social climate. Whatever the reason, celebs were in the mood to reflect and celebrate the special men in their lives this past weekend for Father’s Day, and it sure showed on social media.Michelle Obama shared a sweet note on her Instagram to celebrate former U.S. president Barack Obama, aka America’s father. “Thank you for the way you love our girls—and all the young people in this country, no matter who they are or where they come from,” she wrote. “We feel your warmth and generosity today and every day. Happy Father’s Day, Barack!”
Obama wasn’t the only public figure being showered with love though. The official Kensington Instagram account shared some new snaps of Prince William and his kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, for the special day. The snaps, which were taken by Kate, included one in which the fam sits on a swing, and others of William
playing with his kids in the grass. The Duchess also took a sweet picture of William with his dad, Prince Charles, sharing a sweet embrace.
Other celebrities that took to social media to honour the papas in their lives included Kim Kardashian, who shared a snap of Kanye and her Krew with the caption “Happy Fathers Day to the best dad!!!! Thank you for making life so much fun! You give our kids the most awesome life! I love you so much!!!”
In her corner of the world, new mom Ashley Graham shared the love to Justin Ervin on his first official Father’s Day, writing, “Happy first Father's Day
@mrjustinervin, you are truly the best father I know. Isaac and I love you to the moon and back.”
Jessica Biel was equally into the celebrations, and she shared a sweet tribute to Justin Timberlake along with a picture of him carrying their son Silas on his shoulders. “To the dad who not only protects and provides but most importantly, PLAYS, and puts up with all our shenanigans,” she shared. “And teaches and guides and comforts and accepts and respects. Being a dad can sometimes be a thankless job, but today we hope you know how important you are in our lives. We love you forever and ever and a day. Love mom and Silas.”
Gabrielle Union, who often shares family updates on social media, took the occasion to celebrate two special men in her life: husband Dwyane Wade and her father Sylvester Union. “My favourite fathers,” she wrote. “The way you both show up time and time again for us. The way you both lead with your own mistakes. The way you both look for ways to be better men, husbands, allies, and most importantly, fathers. I love you both. My favourite dads in the world.”
Gigi Hadid went the throwback route with her post celebrating her father, real estate developer and occasional
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Mohammad Hadid. The model posted a photo from 2000 of her and her father hugging while holding some roses, along with a more current selfie and then a photo of her dad in the kitchen. “Happy Father’s Day @mohamedhadid I love you sooooo much!,” she captioned the post. “Thank you for the best siblings, best food, best stories, and best laughs, Daddio!”
Also getting into the throwback love was Priyanka Chopra, who included a vintage photo of her father Ashok Chopra and her father-in-law “Papa” Kevin Jonas, who are both holding a microphone. “Maybe we both got it from our fathers,” she joked in the caption, tagging husband Nick Jonas.
Lupita Nyongo also shared the love for her father, former Kenyan politician Peter Anyang' Nyong'o. Her sweet post was a tribute to all of the things she admires about her pops. “20 things I hold dear about my father,” she listed. “His: Passion. Focus. Determination. Discipline. Humor. Eloquence. Intellect. Ambition. Endurance. Tenacity. Rhythm. Charm. Compassion. Empathy. Worldliness. Curiosity. Loyalty. Generosity. Dedication. And his Singing. And they all make up for his impatience on the phone! Happy #FathersDay!”
Another celeb showering her own husband and father with love was Chrissy Teigen, who took to Instagram to share a
sweet snap of her dad, Ron Teigen Sr., along with a tribute to John Legend (complete with a photo of the singer in a taco hat, of course). “I could have never imagined a better daddy for my babies,” she wrote. “You were made to do many things in life but you were absolutely made to be a dad. We love you we love you!!”
Mindy Kaling also shared the sweetest story about her father, Avu Chokalingam, whom she claims was too shy to let her share a photo of him. So she posted a picture of Snoopy and some sweet words instead. “Since the day my dad brought me and my daughter Katherine home from the hospital, he has visited her. Every single day. Sometimes it’s to push her on the swing for 45 minutes, sometimes it’s a stroll around the block to look at snails. Even when I moved to New York or London for work, he Skyped with her on the phone or flew out to see her in person,” she wrote. “The first time he was unable to see her in person every day was during Covid, and then, for three months he met her outside a glass door in his mask and gloves at my house and talked to her. He would drop off homemade puzzles and Indian food. It’s funny how you can love your own father even more by seeing how they love your kids. I’m so lucky to have him in my life.”
