Cardi B is opening up about a sexual assault that occurred during a photoshoot. The rapper is set to appear on Thursday’s premiere of WE TV’s Untold Stories of Hip Hop and is revealing her own #MeToo moment.Cardi says that while posing during a photoshoot for a magazine, the photographer on set sexually harassed her. “He was just like trying to get close to me,” said Cardi. “‘Here, you want to get into this magazine?’ And he pulled his dick out. I was so f**king mad and it’s just like, this is crazy.” Speaking to Untold Stories of Hip Hop executive producer and host Angie Martinez, Cardi said she immediately left the shoot and told her management what had happened.Cardi doesn’t name the magazine where the incident took place, but says that the response from the editors was almost as traumatic as the assault. “You know what’s so crazy?” said Cardi. “I told the magazine owner and he just looked at me like, ‘So? And?'”Cardi says that while the event was shocking and upsetting, sadly it wasn’t out of the ordinary. “When I see the #MeToo movement, there’s girls from the ‘hood, I know that they went through the same type of treatment,” she said. “They make you feel like you gotta do a certain type of thing for the most bullshit. It happens really every day.” Cardi said that at this level in her career she’s no longer subjected to the same kind of treatment, adding that she’s found a way to scare off predators. “Oh hell no. I’ll put you on blast on my Instagram.”
In addition to the disturbing sexual assault, Cardi also speaks to Martinez about motherhood and her relationships with rapper and Migos member Offset, with the pair welcoming their first child Kulture in 2018. Definitely will relate,” said Cardi of her new film. The rapper is also using her elevated platform to help inform her followers of the political candidates in the US, most notably Bernie Sanders, who Cardi has been a vocal supporter of for the past year.
