Cameron Diaz may have retired from acting in order to concentrate on being the best mom possible to daughter Raddix Madden, whom she and husband Benji Madden welcomed last December, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t pursuing other creative ventures. Like, you know, doing Instagram Lives to connect with fans and launching a new wine line. Because, #momlife. The Charlie’s Angels star announced the launch of her new wine brand with her friend, entrepreneur Katherine Power, in a press release on July 9. Avaline wine isn’t just any regular old vino, though; both the initial two offerings, a white and a rosé, are organic, vegan, and free of additives.

Introducing @avaline! ? It all started two years ago on a beautiful Los Angeles afternoon in the backyard with @katherinepower. We realized that we knew the contents of everything that went onto and into our bodies—why not wine? Our journey to answer that question led us to create @avaline, a range of clean wines. I’ve always believed that the key to wellness is balance. ⚖️ Creating a clean wine that is full of natural goodness and free from dozens of unwanted and undisclosed extras helps me find that balance when I’m enjoying a glass of wine. It’s wine at its purest, created for those who embrace the pleasure of a whole life and a relaxed approach to wellbeing. ?✨ Link in bio. Cheers to that! CD #avaline

“I enjoyed wine for many-a-year and never questioned it. Not once. I actually figured it was the most responsible alcohol choice because it was made with fermented grapes,” Diaz said in the release. “But I had no idea of the process. One of the first conversations Katherine and I had about making a cleaner wine was ‘what are we going to add to it?’ We soon learned it wasn't what you added, it's what you didn't add.”Power added that when she and Diaz first started looking into where they could buy wine made from organic grapes, they got a lot of eye rolls. “We learned most wine is not made with organic grapes and that it can be manipulated with over 70 additives,” she said. “This completely changed the way we thought about it.”[video_embed id='1882993']RELATED: Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden’s daughter has a unique middle name[/video_embed]The results are two bottles that have been two years in the making. The pair started their vino journey back in 2018, and they eventually settled on Avaline White, a dry, crisp wine from Spain, and Avaline Rosé, a pink wine from France that’s got hints of melon and zest. Both bottles retail for $24 US at wine.com, which does not ship to Canada. Currently there are no red wines included in the line. "This is definitely not a licensing deal; we're not just putting our name or face on a product," Power told InStyle. "It's been a long journey around the world to find the best winemakers for the taste profiles that we wanted, that met our health criteria. We literally knocked on doors in France and Spain and Italy."So how did the duo come up with the name for their refreshing new line? Well, like many expectant parents (a business can be your baby!) they turned to a baby name generating site. “We had so many sessions searching for the name, it was crazy. There are literally hundreds of thousands of wines out there, so all the names were taken,” Diaz explained to InStyle. “I have pages and pages of baby names that we went through, and this one was the one where we were both like, 'Yeah, that's it.'”

Diaz’s last films were released in 2014, when she starred in the Annie remake, Sex Tape and The Other Woman. She confirmed news of her retirement to Entertainment Weekly in 2018 during a reunion for The Sweetest Thing, and revealed earlier this year during an Instagram Live chat that she has no plans on doing any more acting in the near future.“I am not going to do more films at the moment,” she said, as per USA Today. “But I am doing a lot of Instagram Lives because I think it’s a lot of fun to get to connect with you guys and say hi. Everybody’s out there in quarantine right now, which is really, really hard and discouraging, but it looks like we’re getting the swing of it at least.” And really, what better way to get into the swing of it than with a swig of (organic) wine?[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Cameron Diaz has reportedly retired from acting[/video_embed]
