Pop princess Britney Spears has broken the internet with her most recent Instagram post that some are calling socialist propaganda. Regramming the work of artist
Mimi Zhu, Spears posted a diatribe that includes a call for the redistribution of wealth and a general strike.
The post began as a call for community during the isolation we are all feeling under the COVID-19 global pandemic, amplifying the need to call loved ones and continue community collaboration, but it quickly took a hard left, reading, “We will feed each other, redistribute wealth, strike . . . communion moves beyond walls.” All hail Comrade Britney?
The caption on her ‘gram included three red rose emojis, which many have
pointed out is a symbol commonly used by the Democratic Socialists of America.Spears fans and the internet are having a field day with her post, and most are quite supportive of her voicing these political opinions. Many years ago, a young, gum-popping
Britney cavalierly said in an interview that people should just “be faithful” to President George W. Bush, which made a lot of people cringe, so now, her fans are supporting her burgeoning political awakenings.“Britney Spears is a comrade!”
screamed one user, while another
tweeted that her posting “socialist propaganda and three rose emojis” had made his day. One user even began to reevaluate her body of work,
noting that ‘I’m A Slave 4 U’ could actually be about “the working class immobility within Captialism.”So does this mean when Britney sang ‘Work B***h!’ it was actually a critique of late stage Capitalism? That went right over our heads. That also could mean her song, ‘Gimme More’ could be about the destructive properties of avarice within Capitalism and urges a shift toward Communism. We’re going to need to relisten to every single song she’s every released now.[video_embed id='1927634']RELATED: Justin Timberlake has no regrets about the matching denim outfits he wore with Britney[/video_embed]
