Many of the couple's famous friends have already commented on their engagement announcement, including the couple’s Voice co-star John Legend, who wrote “AMAZING! Congratulations to you both!!” Singer Dua Lipa commented on Stefani’s post, writing “I guess our little interview aged well!!!!!! Congratulations!!! Best news.” The British singer was filling in for Jimmy Kimmel in August when she interviewed Stefani and referred to Shelton as her husband. “Well, he’s not my husband, but that sounded cool when you said it,” replied Stefani at the time.Rumors of a possible engagement have been floating around for years, leading many to wonder what Shelton was waiting for. Tick tock, tick tock, etc. The couple have spent most of 2020 isolating together with Stefani’s three sons at Shelton’s ranch in Oklahoma. If you can survive dating in the public eye, working together on a TV show and quarantining with kids, marriage should be easy peasy.[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Gwen Stefani never expected 'Hollaback Girl' to turn into a hit [/video_embed]Stefani and Shelton first met as coaches on The Voice (Mondays & Tuesdays at 8pET on CTV2) in 2014. The singers were both married at the time and soon found themselves forming an unexpected friendship the following year when they each found themselves navigating public divorces. Stefani had been married to British rocker and Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale since 2002 and the pair share three sons, including Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo. Shelton and fellow country singer Miranda Lambert had been married for four years when they announced their divorce. Both Stefani and Shelton have spoken publicly about helping each other through their breakups, crediting their newfound friendship as a strong force in moving past the heartbreak.Stefani and Shelton announced in late 2015 that they were dating, surprising fans by the pairing of the Ska-pop musician and country superstar. The pair made their red carpet debut at the 2016 Vanity Fair Oscars After Party. Their appearance confirmed that the new relationship would not change either party, with Stefani wearing a Yanina Couture gown and Shelton in jeans and cowboy boots. Starting with 2016’s “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” the couple again joined forces for Stefani’s 2017 holiday album, releasing the original song "You Make It Feel Like Christmas.” Just this month, Stefani won her first CMT Music Award for Best Collaboration with Shelton for their 2020 single “Nobody But You.”Appearing on Late Night With Seth Meyers this week, Stefani acknowledged that the couple’s relationship is still surprising. “I didn’t know who Blake Shelton was before going on that show,” said Stefani of joining The Voice. “It’s inconceivable that we would even know each other and be friends, let alone do music together. At the same time, we have so many things that come together and we’re the same.”[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Dog and his guinea pig friends enjoy a crunchy salad on the lawn [/video_embed]
