Home workouts have never been hotter in this time of self-isolation and quarantine, and they’re about to get even hotter now that Queen Bey is involved. Or is that sweatier?Beyoncé and home bike and treadmill company Peloton have announced a multiyear partnership in which the music mogul with work with the company on “various forms of class curation,” according

For those who are unfamiliar, Peloton bikes (which cost about three grand to purchase) are high-tech exercise machines that offer a touchscreen and access to live, in-demand classes meant to give users that extra bit of motivation at home. Like a gym membership the classes, which are available on the company’s app, come with a monthly fee.The collaboration isn’t just for profit, although according to CNBC, Peloton’s stocks
definitely benefitted from the announcement. The partnership’s timing is aligned with Homecoming season, an annual fall celebration for students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The Bey-curated workouts will be themed experiences to help extend Homecoming across all kinds of fitness categories. To celebrate, the company is also giving away 10, two-year digital Peloton memberships to students at HBCUs by the end of November. Peloton has also committed to building better relationships with HBCUs in order to pursue other long-term partnerships. “I'm excited to partner with a company that helps people, young and old, be the best versions of themselves, in an innovative and adaptable way,” Beyoncé added in the statement. “I'm proud to celebrate the students at HBCUs with this donation, to encourage them to find and embrace their own wellness regimens.”Beyoncé’s first class, a 30-minute cycling offering, is now live on the app and more yoga, strength and running classes are expected to roll out this week and within the next couple of months. According to the company anyone can access the app’s special Homecoming content. For those looking to dabble in a new regimen, the app is also available for a free 30-day trial. It’s worth noting that not all programs require the bike or treadmill to participate. The partnership seems pretty on-brand for Beyoncé, who also has an activewear line with Adidas called Ivy Park. The second part of that collaboration—
The Drip 2 Collection—dropped at the end of October.
The first installment, which was released earlier in 2020, sold out instantly. In other words? No one should be surprised of Peloton sales go up again either. After all, there’s a reason we call her Queen Bey.
