Following the TIFF premiere of
The Way I See It—a documentary taking viewers inside the Obama White House by way of the former President’s photographer, Pete Souza—fans of the 44th President and his family are about to get another intimate look inside the man's life and presidency. The first part of Barack Obama's two-volume memoir will be released by Penguin Random House this coming November (even COVID can’t keep this book off shelves).
A Promised Land, says the former leader of the free world, will be an accurate and honest portrayal of the time he spent occupying the Oval Office. And if former FLOTUS Michelle Obama’s own record-breaking memoir is any indication, we’re already convinced that this book will be a must-read… or must-listen (hot tip: like his wife, Obama will be recording the audiobook version himself).
With patented Obama optimism, the man the world once called POTUS announced the book’s debut on Instagram, writing, "There’s no feeling like finishing a book, and I’m proud of this one. I’ve spent the last few years reflecting on my presidency, and in
A Promised Land I’ve tried to provide an honest accounting of my presidential campaign and my time in office: the key events and people who shaped it; my take on what I got right and the mistakes I made; and the political, economic, and cultural forces that my team and I had to confront then—and that as a nation we are grappling with still.""In the book,” continues Obama, “I’ve also tried to give readers a sense of the personal journey that Michelle and I went through during those years, with all the incredible highs and lows. And finally, at a time when America is going through such enormous upheaval, the book offers some of my broader thoughts on how we can heal the divisions in our country going forward and make our democracy work for everybody—a task that won’t depend on any single president, but on all of us as engaged citizens."[video_embed id='2035918']RELATED: 'The Way I See It' gives us the story behind some of Obama's most iconic photos [/video_embed]"Along with being a fun and informative read,” Obama wrote, “I hope more than anything that the book inspires young people across the country—and around the globe—to take up the baton, lift up their voices, and play their part in remaking the world for the better."Both volumes of the book will be translated in 25 languages and are likely to be read by and inspire people all over the planet. The former President has reportedly taken great pride in the fact that he’s
written the hefty tome (installment one is over 700 pages) himself while Michelle occasionally enlisted a ghostwriter.Still, it wasn’t a ghostwriter who
won her that Grammy…[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Cavalier puppy adorably attempts to befriend Newfoundland dog [/video_embed]
