Some might say that the current US administration’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic shows a certain ‘appetite for destruction’ — and if social media is any measure, Axl Rose would be among them. His recent Twitter interaction with Trump Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin is proof — and the exchange has gone viral. The Guns ‘n Roses frontman is far from being an avid user of Twitter (a quick scan of his recent tweets shows a string of posts from late in 2019 wishing friends and acquaintances a happy birthday). However, since February, Rose has begun to use the platform to criticize the Trump government. Most notably, the way it’s handling the coronavirus outbreak and resulting lockdown. Following Mnuchin’s appearance on Fox Business Network where the Secretary appeared to encourage Americans to pursue travel across the US (“This is a great time for people to explore America,” he said. “A lot of people haven’t seen many parts of America.”) Axl lashed out at Mnuchin, calling him an a**hole. The twist? Mnuchin took the bait. [video_embed id='1952974']RELATED: As U.S. COVID-19 cases continue to rise, Trump resumes travel[/video_embed]Things continued to heat up from there. After Mnuchin initially included the Liberian flag in his tweet (it’s just 49 stars short of the American version), Rose jumped on his mistake with a pretty snappy comeback and a clear commitment to Guns ‘n Roses-style grammar. And while we’re here, why not take the weird factor up yet another notch? As fate would have it, President Trump toured a face mask factory earlier this week (not wearing one, natch) and took in the manufacturing process while a Guns n’ Roses song blared over the facility’s loudspeakers. The song? ‘Live and Let Die.’ A round of polite applause for irony, please.[video_embed id='1952479']BEFORE YOU GO: Baby can't stop laughing at his excited dog[/video_embed]
