Genes, but make them fashion. Heather Locklear’s daughter Ava Sambora can totally rock the grunge look with the best of them, and that includes her mother. The 22-year-old took to social media recently to prove as much, when she posed in the exact same Bon Jovi shirt that her mom wore two decades ago to a press event.“I got it from my mama (Like I literally got this shirt from my mom’s closet)," Sambora cheekily captioned the post, in which she’s sporting the off-the-shoulder “Bon Jovi Forever” top and a pair of jeans while posing in front of a tree. Of course the throwback is doubly relevant since Ava’s father is Locklear’s ex-husband Richie Sambora, a.k.a. the band’s lead guitarist.

The younger Sambora also posted the original picture of her mom wearing the shirt to the ABC Summer press tour in 2000, when she would have been about 38 years old. At the time she was promoting a new season of Spin City with Charlie Sheen, who replaced Michael J. Fox after his Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis. Locklear and Sambora married years before that at the end of 1994 in Paris. Their relationship fizzled out by 2007, but not before they had Ava in 1997.[caption id="attachment_4937426" align="alignleft" width="960"]heather-locklear-ava-sambora Instagram/@avasambora, Getty Images[/caption]Locklear has often posted photos of her daughter on Instagram, but lately during quarantine she’s had something extra special to celebrate: Ava’s graduation. Earlier in May Locklear posted a series of photos congratulating her daughter on finishing her degree at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, which she capped off with a virtual celebration like so many other grads out there right now. “Congratulations baby girl! We are so proud,” Locklear wrote.[video_embed id='1937734']RELATED: Heather Locklear thinks we should embrace our roots showing just like in the 90s[/video_embed]Ava has been social distancing at home with a roots-embracing Locklear, who recently celebrated one year of sobriety. “She is doing great and looks great,” a source told People at the time. “What’s most important is today and the next day and the future and she’s in a great place. She is gardening and taking walks and cooking like a fiend. She cooks for herself and Ava, and she cooks for her parents… she’s in a great place.”

Prior to that Locklear was living in at an in-patient facility after completing a court-ordered 30-day stay at a private rehabilitation centre last year. Through it all that same source told People that she and Ava have always been close. “Ava has a very loving and supportive relationship with her mom,” reported the publication. “And as painful it is, she knows that it’s in her mom’s hands and God’s hands. All she can do is like anybody else, just pray and support.”And you know, raid her closet every now and then.[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Rescued baby crows learn to eat from chopsticks [/video_embed]
