Other Twitter users began sharing past IG stories posted by Griffin on her public account, including clips of Griffin criticizing the Duke and Duchess for opting for a non-royal name for Archie.Man oh man does “Something Borrowed” author Emily Giffin hate Meghan Markle pic.twitter.com/bjnoDNTY9p

Following the backlash on Wednesday, Griffin apologized for her comments in a statement made on her now-private Instagram page. Griffin wrote via Us Weekly “I enjoy following celebrities and analyzing them with my readers. I post dozens of IG stories a day in a very honest, unfiltered way, as if I’m confiding directly with close friends. Further, I’m very interested in the British monarchy. I always have been.”Griffin continued, writing that her comments about Markle had no racial undertones. “To be clear, I absolutely loved that a biracial, American woman was marrying into the Royal Family. It seemed a wonderful, happy thing for everyone. I celebrated their wedding by hosting a gathering here at my home and posting many, many photos. Further, I was appalled by any signs of racism against her.”Griffin added that her anger, though directed at Markle in her recent posts, is actually towards both the Duke and Duchess. “Over recent months my feelings about BOTH Harry and Meghan changed. But I can say from the bottom of my heart that my criticism of Meghan has never had anything to do with her race,” she wrote. “Further, I understood why she wanted to leave the monarchy and carve out her own path. I do, however, find fault with the way BOTH she and Harry handled things, and those feelings bled over in later posts, including the ones today.”The latest exchange does not appear to be Griffin’s first time using social media to bully. In 2012, former Griffin fan Corey A. Doyle left a negative review on Amazon about Griffin’s Where We Belong. Doyle was called a ‘pyscho’ by Griffin’s husband and received an onslaught of hate and even anonymous threatening phone calls, actions by Griffin’s fans that the author did not publicly condemn.Look at the videos she put up on her IG stories obsessing and hating on Archie’s name! She’s an evil woman who follows Meghan hate pages and laughs with Meghan bullies. She can’t even sleep without thinking about Archie’s name! pic.twitter.com/xoG2nCtx8e
