Sussex silence
A lot has been said by the British media on their feelings about the Duchess of Sussex. But Meghan and Harry soldier on, do what they can to ignore the noise and continue doing their thing. Which is, you know, general awesomeness for those around them and for the causes they are most passionate about. But according to journalist (and "deputy church warden," according to his Twitter bio) Quentin Letts, when it comes to the Sussexes, don't mention them to the Queen.
Friend of an acquaintance was about to go riding with HMQ. Was given v firm advice. 'Talk about anything except one subject.' Brexit? 'No. The Sussexes.'
So if you ever get a chance to sip tea with HRH and want to ask about Meghan's work with charity Smart Works, or know more about Harry's favourite Invictus Games moment, or find out if Archie likes tummy time or is more comfortable on his back, don't bother. Because Her Maj has no time for that nonsense. Now, whether or not Quentin source is reliable is up for debate. But given a chance to say anything to the Queen, the Sussexes would probably be the last thing on our minds. In all honesty, we just want to know how she keeps herself in such tip-top shape. Because tea can't be the only reason she's the longest-reigning British monarch in history and still going strong. Royal Highness, what's your secret?[caption id="attachment_4481672" align="alignleft" width="500"] Giphy[/caption]
William's classmates used to tease him about Princess Diana's topless photos
In 1996, photos of Princess Diana soaking up the sun sans bikini were published for all to see. Not only were they embarrassing for her but her children as well. And according to a new memoir, Prince William was teased quite a bit because of them.In The Glossy Years, Nicholas Coleridge wrote that during a lunch conversation, Diana mentioned that the then-14-year-old called her up from Eton College to inform her that he was getting all kinds of teased, thanks to the topless pics that were taken while she vacationed in Spain."William rang me from Eton. Poor boy, he's only 14. He was upset," Coleridge alleges Diana told him, according to the Daily Mail. "He said some of the other boys were teasing him, saying my tits are too small."But she was less concerned about the pics and more concerned with how the pics looked, according to Coleridge. "Are my breasts too small, do you think?" He recalled going "breathless and as red as a guardsman's tunic," before reassuring her that breasts were "perfect" and "told her not to worry."It wouldn't be the last time Will had to deal with topless photos. While vacationing with his wife in the South of France, Duchess Kate was photographed tanning topless as well. Most of the media respected the royals' privacy and didn't buy and publish the photos but French Closer magazine did and it and two of its staffers were promptly sued by William and eventually ordered to pay the couple £181,000 in damages.St. James' Palace released a statement in 2012, likening what happened to Kate to her late mother-in-law. "Their Royal Highnesses had every expectation of privacy in the remote house. It is unthinkable that anyone should take such photographs, let alone publish them," it read. "The incident is reminiscent of the worst excesses of the press and paparazzi during the life of Diana, Princess of Wales, and all the more upsetting to the Duke and Duchess for being so."
Sam Smith will now use them/they pronouns
Earlier this year, Sam Smith spoke to British GQ and came out as non-binary, though they admitted that they were still learning about it and, at the time, they would continue to use male pronouns. Well, a few months have gone by and the singer is opting to go with they/them pronouns going forward.
Sam admitted that while this is their choice, they in no way feel ready to "eloquently speak at length about what it means" and for now, wants to be "visible and open." Perfect.
Gigi Hadid handled her runway wardrobe malfunction with ease
It takes a true boss to take a wardrobe malfunction and run with it. And that's exactly what Gigi Hadid did during New York Fashion Week. She was strutting in the Marc Jacobs Spring 2020 runway show when her heel broke. Instead of faking a non broken heel, they sent Gigi back out for the finale shoeless, and she still rocked it.
Marc Jacobs stylist Katie Grand further explained exactly what happened in her own Instagram post and how, in fact, going barefoot worked in the look's favour.
Whoa, Jessica Biel and Beverley Mitchell did not like each other during 7th Heaven
They played sisters on 7th Heaven so it shouldn't be too surprising that off-screen, Jessica Biel and Beverley Mitchell didn't always get along."We used to butt heads and she used to drive me fricking nuts and we used to literally want to battle," Mitchell told Us Weekly. "There were times where I just remember going home, because we would carpool home [from the 7th Heaven set], and we would just yell at each other all the time."They eventually bonded and now Mitchell calls Biel her "sister" and "one of the most talented, strong and amazing women." She added: "I don't have brothers and sisters, so she has always been that type of relationship for me because I'm an only child. I adopted her, whether she likes it or not. She doesn't have a choice." Said like a true sibling.
Beverley also recalled how Jessica helped her through her miscarriage last year, saying, "Jessie was a strong supporter when I miscarried, and she would just call and leave me messages and just check in just because. I didn't call her back because I wasn't in a place for that, but she also knew me well enough to know that like I don't have to call back, but just knowing that she was thinking of me was so meaningful and I think that I'm very blessed with that type of friendship." Friends. Sisters. Sometimes? Same difference.
