Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas are taking their relationship to the next level, which of course involves walking. The couple have graduated from strolls to the coffee shop, to strolls with Affleck’s three young children. According to a source, Affleck wants his new girlfriend to develop a relationship with his children before things get more serious. Plus, gotta get those steps in.

A source close to the couple told People that Affleck “…wants the kids to spend time with her so they can get to know her.” The couple were spotted this weekend walking around a suburban neighborhood in Los Angeles with Affleck’s three children that he shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, including 14-year-old Violet, 11-year-old Seraphina and eight-year-old Sam. Everyone in the group wore masks during the public outing, which was also attended by Affleck and de Armas’ pups as well as the Garner family dog, Birdie. Although Affleck and de Armas have been spotted together several times since beginning their relationship earlier this year, this weekend’s outing marked the first time the Knives Out actor was photographed with Affleck’s children.

"They are very happy together," the source told People of Affleck and de Armas. Part of that happiness could be thanks to Garner’s approval of the pair’s relationship. Affleck has spoken publicly about how much he respects his ex-wife and how important Garner has been to him both as a father and in his ongoing journey with sobriety. According to a source close to Garner, the actor approves of her ex's new relationship with de Armas.

It’s no surprise that de Armas having a close relationship with Affleck’s children is important to the Oscar winner. The devoted dad spoke to Diane Sawyer for Good Morning America in February and talked about his own painful childhood as the son of an alcoholic father and why he is determined to not repeat the cycle. “[That] is one of the hard parts of being the child of an alcoholic,” said Affleck. “Do you think, ‘What if my dad gets drunk? What if he does something stupid? What if he ends up on TMZ and it’s on my news feed and other kids see it?’”

After relapsing in 2019, Affleck stepped away from work to focus on his family. “I took the last half of the year off and I just got to be dad. Drive them to school, pick them up. Go to the swim meet, come home. That’s where the parenting happens,” he said. “It’s in the cracks. It’s in the moments when you’re just taking them back from soccer and they say something profound or they talk about how they’re really feeling about something and it’s like that’s where you get to be the parent. That’s the joy of it. And that’s what I don’t want to miss.”

Affleck and de Armas met while playing a married couple in the upcoming thriller Deep Water, which was filmed at the end of the 2019. In March, the pair were first spotted together while on vacation in de Armas’ home country of Cuba. They later went public with their relationship on de Armas’ Instagram and recently filmed a short but sweet kiss for Residente’s “Antes Que El Mundo Se Acabe” music video. Plus, they have matching necklaces, so they are definitely going to prom together.
