Alicia Keys posts empowering message to 5-year-old son

Alicia Keys is here to remind fans there are many components to the Black Lives Matter movement, and one of them includes paving the way for the next generation to grow up in a socially just world. Sharing an empowering message to her five-year-old son Genesis , Keys offered  a subtle but sweet reminder.“My beautiful baby boy/So curious and pure/Yet SO clear about what you don't want,” she wrote on Instagram and Twitter. "'NO!' you say with vigor/When you don't like something going on in your small but powerful 5-year-old-world/I hope that never changes.” The 39-year-old mom and “Girl on Fire” singer then continued by musing about her son’s world as he grows up.

Since George Floyd’s killing on May 25, the singer is one of many celebrities speaking out about anti-Black racism and pushing for social equality. Keys has been using her social media platforms to further those messages and fight for change. “We need more than poems. We need deep systemic change,” she shared alongside a video of a poem recently. “But when I wrote these words it was a little prayer that I personally needed. Maybe u do too.
