Gossip, drama, and revealing dirty secrets are King when it comes to going viral on TikTok, and one user who goes by Reesa Teesa shared a series of 50 TikTok’s last month labeled, “Who TF Did I Marry?” that had everyone shook. In them, Reesa Teesa shared the story of meeting, marrying, and divorcing a man she calls “Legion,” and details how she discovered that almost every thing he had shared with her, from being a former NFLer, to being independently wealthy, to even having a personal assistant, were all fabrications. Now, after the hailstorm of attention from the media, including appearances on Good Morning America, and The Tamron Hall Show, she is speaking out about her treatment, prompting famed radio DJ Charlamagne Tha God to issue an apology for body-shaming her.

Last week, Reesa Teesa appeared on The Tamron Hall Show, addressing CTG’s comments without naming him, telling the host, “There was this very famous personality that called me a ‘Big Back,” talking about my weight. I can already admit that I’m self-conscious. You know, as a heavier woman.” “I feel like how I look should not dictate whether or not I deserved the mistreatment.” “It was disappointing, and it was hurtful,” she told Tamron. “Especially the one that was the more famous personality. Because, again, I’m more than just my weight.” CTG had said on his popular radio show “The Breakfast Club” about Reesa Teesa that upon hearing her TikTok story, he reflected, “To be honest with you, I hear a lot of big back behaviour. She got a big back?” “Big Back” is a slur that originates from the Tyler Perry film, Why Did I Get Married? CTG continued, “Big Backs, y’all gotta stop being so thirsty for a man. There is a man out there for you. This woman believed all of this because she wanted to believe all of this. Big back belief isn’t like everybody else’s belief. She said it herself. He said everything I wanted to hear. She wanted to believe whatever was coming out of his mouth because she wanted a man so bad.” Now CTG is walking back his statements, and apologizing, saying on his morning show, “I disturbed that woman’s peace and that wasn’t my intention. So I apologize if my words made her feel that.” Reesa Teesa’s media blitz included a stop on GMA this morning, where she went into detail about her experience with “Legion” and why she chose to share her story online.

Speaking with Robin Roberts, Reesa Teesa said during the interview, “Ultimately I decided, 'If you're going to tell this story, tell the whole story. I also really, truly believe the story will help somebody." Calling Legion a pathological liar, she said after speaking online for a few weeks, he moved in so they could quarantine together. In the relationship, he apparently was eager to pay for her bills, and promised her a luxury car, a trip to London, and to purchase a home. However none of those financial promises ever came true. She says she was happy when she became pregnant, but when she miscarried, he didn’t visit her in the hospital because his P.A. said he was in a meeting, prompting her to discover that he didn’t have a personal assistant at all. "Every 'I love you' was a lie. Every 'I got you' was a lie," she states. "That does something to you mentally." She says when they married, things fell apart quickly. "I got married Jan. 5, 2021, and by Jan. 31, I knew I was in serious trouble," she said. More revelations came as time went on, including discovering Legion had a criminal record, having pled guilty in 2017 to charges of impersonating a police officer and had an open warrant for violating probation. "The question isn't what all did he lie about. The question definitely became, 'Okay, what is actually true? What can you prove?'" she remarked. She said the whole experience has left a mark on her. "I don't really get excited anymore … I am terrified to get excited because I went through a whole year and some change of getting excited only for it to be stripped away," she said. "I do still believe in love. I do still believe in marriage. I … do still want that." Now, she says, she is focused on her healing journey. "It is still very much a journey of healing, self-reflection and simply, loving myself way more than to put myself through that, or anything even like that, ever again," she said.
