When you’re in love, you end up staring deeply into your lover’s eyes. But if you’re in love with The Bachelor Joey Graziadei (* raises all the hands*) you’ve probably been staring into his eyes on screen and a lot of Bachelor Nation is calling out one thing.

Viewers have noticed that Joey appears to have yellow or yellow-tinted eyes quite often on the show. It became such a topic of discussion on social media that he felt as though he had to address the issue in a new TikTok, where he revealed he had a condition called Gilbert’s Syndrome since he was an adolescent.

Speaking directly to the camera so we could stare directly into his eyes (* swoon*), Joey revealed that when he was a teen, “I was sick for about a week and a half. My mom thought it would be a good idea to go to the doctor."

After a series of tests, they found that his bilirubin count was rather high, indicating there might be something wrong with his liver like Hepatitis.

After Hepatitis was ruled out, “They diagnosed me with something: Gilbert syndrome,” he said. “At the end of the day, I am told that I am healthy. It’s something that does affect the whites of my eyes. It makes it have those jaundice levels, which is why they look a little bit more yellow.”

He did temper that by admitting that the yellow can be more pronounced when he’s stressed, which is basically the entire Bachelor franchise.

“It’s something I want to pay attention to more going into this year. I wanna get my health right and make sure that I’m all good, but I at least wanted to give some background and let you know, to my knowledge, I am healthy. It’s just something that I have to pay attention to drinking more fluids,” he continued.

He then thanked fans for  “looking out for me and wondering if I’m OK,” but remarked, “I’m OK as I can be, and I’ll continue to look out.”

Yes, social media, tweets like these not only raised awareness, but prompted your current hunky Bachelor to thank you. Tweeting works!

The Canadian Liver Foundation reports that Gilbert’s Syndrome is “a fairly common, mild liver disorder that is caused by an inherited deficiency of an enzyme involved in the metabolism of bilirubin. In people with Gilbert’s syndrome, the bilirubin is typically mildly elevated and often fluctuates. At times, it may be within the normal range whereas at other times, the level may be higher than normal, but not dangerously so.”

Lucky for Joey, him speaking openly about his condition has just made him hotter in the eyes of social media.
