When “thank u next” singer Ariana Grande married Dalton Gomez in 2021, it seemed like she had finally found the love of her life after some tumultuous relationships with Pete Davidson and Mac Miller. But three years later, they filed for divorce and Ari’s name was put through the wringer in the media with suggestions that she had cheated on Gomez with her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater.

However, this morning her first album in four years, “Eternal Sunshine” dropped and fans have already sussed out some lyrics in the eponymous title track that suggest Gomez was actually the two-timer, not our beloved Ari!

In the fifth song on the album, which also serves as the album name, she sings, “I'll be the first to say, ‘I'm sorry’/Now you got me feelin' sorry, I showed you all my demons, all my lies/Yet you played me like Atari”

Hmmm, played you like Atari, eh? YOU HAVE OUR ATTENTION.

She sings, “Now it's like I'm lookin' in the mirror/Hope you feel alright when you're in her, I found a good boy and he's on my side/You're just my eternal sunshine, sunshine.”

And that’s just the chorus. Check these pre-chorus lyrics: “So now we play our separate scenes/Now, now she's in my bed, mm-mm, layin' on your chest/ Now I'm in my head, wonderin' how it ends.”

Social media, start your digging!

Maybe the netizens are onto something. A source recently told Us Weekly that, “Ariana thinks these songs will provide a lot of insight for her fans. [It’s] her side of the story regarding Dalton [Gomez] and Ethan [Slater].”

SOUNDS LIKE AN ADMISSION TO US!

The insider continued, "Ariana is playing with different characters, some of the lyrics come from her personal life, but others are just her playing a fun character for her fans."

Social media, set your faces to stun.

That’s not the only song that has eyebrows-raising the social media sleuths and netizens trying to crack the code. The second song in the album, “Bye” makes it sound like Ari was doing all the work in her marriage and fighting hard for it, while Gomez did bupkis: "This ain’t the first time I’ve been hostage to these tears / I can’t believe I’m finally moving through my fears / At least I know how hard we tried both you and me / Didn’t we, didn’t we?"

Last week during an interview with Zach Sang, Ari admitted the album, “says everything and nothing at the same time. It’s very vague and very specific — all at once.”

She continued, “The thing that was beautiful about it was, when I was writing [Eternal Sunshine], it was with no intention for the world to hear it. I was just kind of [like], ‘Let’s just go. Let’s see what comes out.’ And then, when I was done, I remembered that people will hear it and sometimes, people will sensationalize things and assign meaning to certain things. And I wanted to make sure that I combed through, just to make sure that it was what I intended.”

[Verse 1]

I don't care what people say

We both know I couldn't change you

I guess you could say the same

Can't rearrange truth

I've never seen someone lie like you do

So much, even you start to think it's true

Ooh

Get me out of this loop, yeah, yeah

[Pre-Chorus]

So now we play our separate scenes

Now, now she's in my bed, mm-mm, layin' on your chest

Now I'm in my head, wonderin' how it ends

[Chorus]

I'll be the first to say, "I'm sorry"

Now you got me feelin' sorry

I showed you all my demons, all my lies

Yet you played me like Atari

Now it's like I'm lookin' in the mirror

Hope you feel alright when you're in her

I found a good boy and he's on my side

You're just my eternal sunshine, sunshine

[Verse 2]

So I try to wipe my mind

Just so I feel less insane

Rather feel painless

I'd rather forget than know, know for sure

What we could've fought through behind this door, mm

So I close it and move, yeah, yeah

[Pre-Chorus]

So now we play our separate scenes

Now, now he's in your bed, and layin' on my chest

Now I'm in my head, and wonderin' how it ends, ends, ends

[Chorus]

I'll be the first to say, "I'm sorry"

Now you got me feelin' sorry

I showed you all my demons, all my lies

Yet you played me like Atari

Now it's like I'm lookin' in the mirror

Hope you feel alright when you're in her

I found a good boy and he's on my side

You're just my eternal sunshine, sunshine

[Bridge]

Won't break, can't shake

This fate, rewrite

Deep breaths, tight chest

Life, death, rewind

Won't (Won't) break (Won't), can't (Can't) shake (Shake)

This (This) fate (Fate), rewrite

Deep (Deep) breaths (Breaths), tight (Tight) chest (Chest)

Life (Life), death (Death)

[Chorus]

I'll be the first to say, "I'm sorry"

Now you got me feelin' sorry

I showed you all my demons, all my lies

Yet you played me like Atari

Now it's like I'm lookin' in the mirror (Won't break, can't shake)

Hope you feel alright when you're in her (This fate, rewrite)

I found a good boy and he's on my side (Deep breaths, tight chest)

You're just my eternal sunshine, sunshine (Life, death, rewind)

[Outro]

Won't (Won't) break (Won't), can't (Can't) shake (Shake)

This (This) fate (Fate), rewrite

Deep (Deep) breaths (Breaths), tight (Tight) chest (Chest)

Life (Life), death (Death), rewind

Won't (Won't) break (Won't), can't (Can't) shake (Shake)

This (This) fate (Fate), rewrite

Deep (Deep) breaths (Breaths), tight (Tight) chest (Chest)

Life (Life), death (Death)
