Actor Dominic Fike shot to fame in the second season of Euphoria (streaming on Crave) as the drug dealer teen Elliot, who ends up in a love triangle between Rue (Zendaya) and Jules (Hunter Schafer). However according to Fike, he also battled drug addiction in real life, and the show didn’t offer him the support and help he felt he needed.

“I actually am a pretty big drug addict myself, believe it or not,” he revealed during a Variety Studio talk at the Sundance Film Festival. “When I was on ‘Euphoria,’ they kind of just gave me a coach who would just talk to you. It was just some random lady.”

He continued, calling the “sober coach” assigned to him by the show “a random lady that I'd never relate to. We had nothing in common. We didn’t come from the same places or the same problems. It was hard to take advice from someone like that or give a s***.”

This isn’t the first time Fike has opened up about his history with drugs. Speaking with The Guardian in 2023, he admitted, “Whatever drug I would do, I’d do too much of it – to [the point of] a near-death, surreal experience. I just kind of thought that was how you did drugs – to go all the way there without dying.”

Although his character in the second season was a huge hit and led to him dating his co-star Hunter Schafer, where the duo ate up the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, Fike isn’t sure he will be asked back for season 3. He admits during the Variety Studio chat that it “would be dope” to return, but he tempered that with, “I don’t really talk to them anymore.”

Fike isn’t the only Euphoria cast member who has no idea what’s going on for season 3. Last week, Jacob Elordi, who plays Nate on the show, told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show that he’s not sure when filming will commence. “I hope it’s soon, or they’re going to have to Benjamin Button me or something,” he laughed.  “I’m going to have a bad back walking down the hallway, you know?”

Deadline reports Euphoria won’t be back on our screens until 2025.
