Everything you missed at the Met Gala After Party

The serving of lewks continued

Sure, the Met Gala is the fashion event of the year, but rarely do we get a peek beyond the red carpet. Luckily, there is always an after party where the stars change outfits for a second (or perhaps, third) time, serving up lewks, and cozying up to some surprising fellow celebs.

The three biggest after parties this year were hosted by singer and actor Janelle Monae (who held her party at the Boom Boom room at The Standard), Met gala co-chair Michaela Coel (who hosted hers at Loosie’s), and Chanel’s after party (held at The Mercer Hotel).

Cameras were flashing as big names like the Kardashian-Jenner clan Bad Bunny, Rihanna, Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, and more made their way into their respective par-tays.

Kendall Jenner and Grammy-winning rapper Bad Bunny left for the after party together, seemingly confirming some kind of friendship/relationship there, and giving us a first look at their style as a couple.

The pair have sparked dating rumours since February, and a source told People that they spend nearly all of their time together.

We love how Bad Bunny, seen below, is bringing a bottle of bubbly to the after party.

Of course, once at the after party, it seems the ladies room was the place to be.

Rihanna slipped into her second look of the night, proudly showing off her baby bump for expected number 2 (with partner A$AP Rocky), as she made her way to the party.

Dua Lipa, who also co-chair of the Met Gala, slipped into her second pearl-laden look as she made her way to the after party, stopping to sign photos and pose with fans who were, in a word, levitating by her appearance.

Once inside the party, Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto finally took off his wild full-body cat suit, only for Aubrey Plaza to commandeer one specific part of it.

For some, however, they had issues even getting to the after party, like actress Elle Fanning, who scoured the streets looking for her car and driver. “He said he was outside but I don’t think he is!” she exclaimed to concerned onlookers.

Doja Cat, who attended the Met Gala in full cat regalia, and only gave interviews with “meows,” changed into her second killer Cat look for the after party, still going with the feline fashion. Note the ears. It was purrrrfect.

Actress and director Olivia Wilde’s second look of the night was divine and hole-y. (See what we did there?)

Can we just take a moment to appreciate Keke Palmer’s colourful and curvy after party lewk? She may star in “Nope,” but she is serving a whole heaping plate of YUP.

“Spencer” Oscar-nominee Kristen Stewart changed from her red-carpet pants suit to a mini skirt for the after party, and while we at present have no clue whether or not she ran into ex-boyfriend Robert Pattinson at the party, we can dare to dream what that reunion might have been like.

Last year, videos of Anne Hathaway tearing up the dance floor made waves, but this year, it was videos of Naomi Campbell, Chance the Rapper, Letitia Wright, and more who owned the floor and made it bumpin’.

The 2023 Met Gala theme was to honour the controversial late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who was known for his often fat-phobic, racist, queerphobic, and body-shaming comments. So we are loving the inclusion of so many curvy women, queer women, and women of colour. They made an event about Lagerfeld their own, and we salute them for it!
