The 90s are back in a big way. No, perhaps the butterfly clips aren’t exactly en vogue (phew, dodged a bullet), but there are Doc Martens, bomber jackets, flannel shirts, belted high-waisted 501 jeans, and tons and tons of nostalgia.

Which is why a convention dedicated to all things 90s, dubbed #90sCon, was held over the weekend, and the era’s biggest stars showed up to reunite and chat about everything from idols we lost to friendships that remain.

The casts of famous 90s shows were in attendance, like the cast of The Wonder Years, Charmed, Full House, and Sabrina The Teenage Witch. The iconic cast of the 95-trend-setting movie Clueless, including Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, and Breckin Meyer, were also in attendance. And not to leave the 90s tunes out, member of 90s band NSYNC also walked the red carpet.

Of course, reuniting the cast of Charmed was a big deal, as Shannen Doherty’s character was killed off amid tensions with co-star Alyssa Milano. Then, Rose McGowan came in to replace her and has since grown quite vocal in the #MeToo movement, calling fellow activist and co-star Milano “a lie.” Milano wasn’t in attendance for the panel, but Doherty, McGowan, and Holly Marie Combs all sat down together, giving each other big hugs.

Doherty’s appearance was also much applauded due to her ongoing battle with stage 4 breast cancer. She told the audience, "I'm feeling great, thank you! … This crowd is amazing!"

While Milano wasn’t physically there, she did post a picture of her castmates on her official Instagram, captioning it, “This makes me happy for the OG Charmed fans. What a gift! #90sconvention.”

The cast of Clueless also conducted a panel on the enduring influence of the 90s juggernaut that launched a thousand “as if’s!” With Silverstone, Meyer, Dash, and Elisa Donovan taking the stage, one noticeable absence was the late Brittany Murphy, who died in 2009.

Meyer, who played Travis Birkenstock in the movie opposite Murphy, who played Tai Fraser, he talked about how wonderful it was to audition with her.

"Brittany and I played boyfriend and girlfriend in a couple things," he recalled. "So when I auditioned it was nice because, any time you audition with someone you know, you're just like, 'One box I could check.' So that was pretty cool.”

He continued, “I skateboarded to the audition — not for fun, but because I was broke. It's a really far [trip] skateboarding from North Hollywood to Hollywood, where the studio is, so I came in all sweaty, greasy, gross.”

Arriving to see Murphy auditioning, he recalls saying at the time, "I don't know if I'm going to get the part, but if you don't make the movie with her, don't make the movie," adding: "She's that great. She was."

He then went on to mourn the loss of her talent for the world, wondering what projects she might be taking on today had she lived. "Brittany could sing like nobody's business, and I look at things like [how] they're doing the movie Wicked now. I hear about that and think Brittany would be killing this stuff right now. ... We don't get to see the incredible work she going to do."

On a happier note, Silverstone gushed about her Blast From The Past costar Brendan Fraser winning the Best Actor Oscar last week, and told the audience, “I’d be happy to do anything with Brendan … I just saw Brendan after he won his Oscar. He’s so cute and so sweet.”

She later added, “So yes, I’m happy to do that [sequel].”

We are totally buggin.

One of the biggest shows of ye olde TGIF lineup was Full House and its stars

Dave Coulier, Candace Cameron Bure, Andrea Barber, and Jodie Sweetin sat down to talk about the legendary show and how the recent passing of Bob Saget.

Coulier shared some heartwarming memories of the first time he met Saget, well before they co-starred in Full House, telling the audience, “I was 18 years old, I was a beginning standup comic, and Bob came into Detroit on a comedy tour with [two other comics], and they were brilliant. And I'd only been doing standup in clubs for like a couple of weeks, and Bob of course went up third after those two guys, and he was so funny and so polished and so incredible.”

"And I've got braces on my teeth, and I'm like, 'Hi, Mr. Saget. How are you? You were really fun, sir.' And he was like, 'Call me Bob.' So then he wrote down his address on a napkin, and I kept it, and said, 'Just give me a call when you get out to Los Angeles.' And I thought, 'Wow, how cool is that?' "

When Coulier did make it out to LA, he called Saget even though they barely knew each other, saying, “I couldn't find an apartment, so I ended up sleeping on his couch for two weeks while he went on the road. He didn't know me! He just let me stay in his apartment, and then art imitated life. When we do Full House, I move into Danny's house and sleep in the doggone alcove. And Bob would go, 'This is really weird.' "

Of course, this wouldn’t be the 90s without the music, so many of our favourite acts, like members of NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, and TLC showed up to show the fans that it might sound crazy but it ain’t no lie, they still love to perform.

Case in point, Nick Carter, AJ McLean, Joey Fattone,  Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas took to the stage together to perform the iconic TLC song “Waterfalls,” replete with the music video’s dance moves.

This was the second annual 90s Con, held in Hartford, Connecticut, over the weekend. Other appearances included the cast of Beverly Hills, 90210, The Wonder Years, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Good Burger, All That, and more.
