In March, Games of Thrones alum Sophie Turner announced she is expecting her second child with Jonas Brothers hubby Joe. Their first daughter Willa was born in 2020. Now, The Staircase actress has revealed that she wants her young family to return to her native England, abandoning their Florida abode for the British way of life.

According to Sophie, Joe might take some convincing, but she feels it’s a necessary move for her mental health and well-being.

Speaking with ELLE UK for their June edition, Sophie admits, “I miss England so much. The people, the attitude, everything.”

“I'm slowly dragging my husband back. I really love living in America but, for my mental health, I have to be around my friends and my family."

She continued, “England would ideally be the final destination, but [Joe] might take quite a bit of convincing!”

The move isn’t just about her mental health, as she cites the future prospects for daughter Willa as a driving force to return to ol’ Blighty.

“And also for my daughter — I would love her to get the education and school life that I was so lucky to have."

She then went on to describe the idyllic circumstances of her upbringing in Warwickshire.

“My parent's house is the epitome of the English countryside — horses, sheep, cows."

She adds that she loves her family life in Miami, Florida and even tries to bring a little of the ‘shire to the sunshine state.

“We’re very lucky to live in Miami. We have good weather and live by the water. We try to keep it as chill as possible and just cherish those times, because we don’t get them very often. We travel around so much.”

“I buy stuff from the British Marketplace. In the States, the chocolate ain’t good, the crisps ain’t good. It’s not the same. I need my Bisto gravy – all the good s**t!”

The possible British re-invasion isn’t the only thing Sophie is doing for her mental health. She also goes into detail in the interview about overcoming an eating disorder and the anxiety that social media caused her. She says that deleting her Instagram account was one of the best things she’s done to achieve equanimity and peace of mind.

She then freely speaks about the benefit she’s felt from having regular therapy sessions.

“For a long time, I was quite sick with an eating disorder and I had …  a live-in therapist, who would ensure I wasn’t doing anything unhealthy with my eating habits.”

“I still have to do [therapy] every week. Occasionally, I go on a retreat to check myself, and I still have days when I feel depressed or anxious. It’s manageable now – I have the tools. I know what’s good for me and what’s not good for me. I know what I have to do to get myself in a good headspace. It’s not debilitating – I know how to get myself out of it,” she says.

The actress, who admits to getting a GoT tattoo on her arm for her character Sansa, started dating the “What’s A Man Gotta Do” singer back in 2016 and they wed in Las Vegas in 2019.

“I was gunning for Cardi B to walk me down the aisle,” she jokes off the top of the interview. The couple had a second wedding one month later in Paris with friends and family.

In the magazine spread, there are many shots of Sophie fiercely showing off her baby bump, and according to her, she is excited to welcome a new addition to their young family, and to watch her young daughter grow into a strong character like her parents.

“The greatest thing in life is seeing my daughter go from strength to strength. We're so excited to be expanding the family. It's the best blessing ever.”
