On the one-year anniversary of Naya Rivera’s memorial, Ryan Dorsey shared a touching tribute to his ex-wife and the mother of their 5-year-old son, Josey.

“Today…A year ago we laid you to rest. I still can't believe it,” the 38-year-old actor shared on Instagram over the weekend along with black-and-white photos of Rivera and Josey, as well as a photo of Josey giving a thumbs up.

“The year has flown by, so fast that it doesn’t seem like it’s been a year at all,” he continued.

“Our boy has grown so much. He’s such an explorer, so inquisitive. He’s sweet, so funny, and his laugh always lights up the room. He’s an intuitive soul to say the least. To know him is to love him, everyone that meets him is always smiling,” he shared.

“He’s doing ok. He’s such a resilient strong kid. He misses you but knows he’ll see you again, and the invisible string is something that’s helped us out during this ever-evolving transition of your time with us on earth that was unfairly & for reasons we’ll never understand cut short…too soon…”

In the post, Dorsey revealed that he believes July will probably always be a strange and difficult month for the family, and that it’s still hard to read or watch anything. “As the years go by strength will be on my side as I will share the memories with what is the brightest star of your legacy left on this earth, our beautiful son, Josey,” he wrote.

“The thumbs up…only seemed right. I remember the first time he did it back to you. At jujitsu, you gave him a thumbs up and he returned the gesture…it was so sweet,” he continued. “Maybe it’s silly and doesn’t make sense to be doing this on IG and putting this out there, but so is this whole thing. So there’s that…”

The actor then wrapped his post by acknowledging there are no words that really help to heal loss for anyone, and that some days are better than others. All anyone can do is to be as strong as they can be.

“Fly high, Rest In Peace, knowing he’s doing ok…,” Dorsey added. “He’s being raised right, and he’s got a lot of family and people around him that love him, and you.”

Rivera died on July 8 at the age of 33 by accidental drowning. She had been boating with Josey at Lake Piru in California, just outside of Los Angeles. Earlier this month to commemorate her passing, fans and fellow co-stars also remembered Rivera on social media and beyond.

“You are the brightest star in my eyes Naya Rivera,” Heather Morris, who starred as Rivera’s love interest Brittany on Glee, wrote on Instagram while revealing she got a tattoo to commemorate her friend. “I'm so grateful GOD LAYED A HAND and brought us together as best friends, mom friends, scene partners, and everything in between.”

“Always a light, always with us,” wrote Jenna Ushkowitz, who played Tina on the series. “My heart is with you and your family today. love you Nougs.”

"I miss you. Every single day," fellow co-star Kevin McHale wrote on his own post. Other Glee alums, like Matthew Morrison and Chris Colfer, also shared photos of their late co-star.

Rivera’s mom, Yolanda Previtire, also commemorated the one-year anniversary of her daughter’s death, speaking with Good Morning America about how the family is still in mourning over their loss. “There are no words to describe what we're going through,” she said. “All we know is we have each other.”
