Lance Bass called out Justin Timberlake's slow texting on TikTok

There’s nothing like the satisfaction of calling out your friend and former bandmate on a platform where nearly a million people will see you throwing that shade (is this what the allure of being an influencer is all about?).

NSYNC’s Lance Bass knows exactly how good it feels when an inside joke between friends goes viral. On Sunday, Bass called out his former boybandmate Justin Timberlake for being a bit lax when it comes to returning text messages.

“It’s the little things,” Bass captioned the post — which seemed to work in getting JT’s attention. “Mission accomplished,” he added.

The ubershady clip has now been seen 19.5 million times — and that’s not counting the Instagram repost. As though Timberlake could somehow sense the video racking up likes, comments, and views, the singer responded with a defence: dadhood.

"Once those babies show up… your unavailability will all make sense, bro 😂😂😂," he wrote.

"Touché!" Bass answered. After seven years of marriage, he and husband Michael Turchin are expecting to start their family this autumn with the arrival of twins. The couple is using a surrogate and recently told People about their experience

"It has been quite the journey. I grew up in this family unit where I dreamt of having a kid and having that dynamic. And sometimes in your life you feel like, 'Okay, I'll never be able to have that. I'm not supposed to have that.' But now we're realizing, 'No, we do need that. We deserve that and we can have this,'" he said back in 2020. "And I love that our mentality is definitely changing in the community."

Bass said that it was important for him to share his story about the difficulties involved in trying to conceive through a surrogate so that other LGBTQ+ would-be parents know they’re not alone.

"We knew that we wanted to be very open and transparent with our experience because we wanted gay couples to be able to relate to us and say, 'Oh my gosh, we're going through that too.' Or like, 'Oh, now that's, hopefully, what we can do.' And give them a kind of a blueprint of how to do it. If you want to start that family, start that family," said Bass. "It's going to be incredible."

Speaking of incredible, it’s somehow been 20 years since NSYNC put out their last album, ‘Celebrity’ — which, by the way, was the point of Bass’ TikTok post (think of the JT shade as a bonus track). Bass opened up his comments section to chat with fans about their favourite songs from the record, saying that his own top three favourites are "Girlfriend," "Two of Us" and "See Right Through You."
