Dolly Parton re-creates her Playboy magazine cover for her husband’s 75th birthday

Whether it’s in music, in fashion, literacy, or in saving the world by funding the COVID-19 vaccines, Dolly Parton will forever be an island in the stream. Now, she’s even dominating #HotGirlSummer in her 75th slingshot around the sun by recreating her iconic 1978 Playboy cover, just like she said she would!
In a video posted to her official social media channels, the 75-year-old icon is seen wearing the same Playboy bunny outfit she did *does the math* 43 years ago, and looking fine AF. As she explains in the video, it’s all for her hubby Carl Thomas Dean’s birthday.
“Today is July 20th,” she begins. “It’s my husband Carl’s birthday and you’re probably wondering why I’m dressed like this. Remember some time back I said I was going to pose for Playboy magazine when I was 75? Well, I’m 75 and they don’t have a magazine anymore but my husband always loved the original cover of Playboy, so I was trying to think of something to do to make him happy.”
“He still thinks I’m a hot chick after 57 years — and I’m not going to try to talk him out of that.”
Uh, Dolly? He ain’t wrong. You look smokin’ 9 to 5! Dolly must agree because she captioned the post with Megan Thee Stallion’s #HotGirlSummer. Why do we love this so much?
The black bunny outfit outlines her, shall we say, famous assets, but covers up just enough that there isn’t even a hint of her fabled tattoos that supposedly run up her arms and torso.
"I did a little photoshoot in this little outfit and I had a cover made of the new Dolly. The first one, remember this?” she said holding up the 1978 cover. “I was kind of a little butterball in that one. Well, I'm string cheese now. But he'll probably think I'm cream cheese… I hope."
Dolly ended the video by joking that Playboy owes her some serious royalties for this. "You think Playboy ought to pay me for at least a photoshoot? I do," she winked. No one says no to Dolly.
Last March, Dolly came forward with her idea of recreating her Playboy cover. “I don’t plan to retire. I just turned 74 and I plan to be on the cover of Playboy magazine again,” Parton told 60 Minutes Australia in March of 2020 when asked what her retirement age would be. “See, I did Playboy magazine years ago. I thought it would be such a hoot, if they’ll go for it—I don’t know if they will—if I could be on the cover again when I’m 75.”
We all hope to be as lucky as Dolly and look like a million bucks when we’re 75. Of course, as Dolly would say, “that’s how much it cost!”
