Jaden Smith to open restaurant where homeless people can eat for free

Just like his food truck, which he launched two years ago to distribute food to the homeless, it'll go by 'I Love You.'

Jaden Smith is on a roll with his I Love You food truck, which he launched two years ago on his 21st birthday to help distribute food to the homeless in Los Angeles' Skid Row area.

Now, the multi-talent and son of Will and Jada is turning the truck into a full-blown restaurant, which will also offer the same healthy, vegan options.

“It’s for homeless people to get free food,” Smith said in a statement, via Variety. “But if you’re not homeless, not only do you have to pay, but you have to pay for more than the food’s worth so that you can pay for the person behind you.”

That's about all the details we have so far on Smith's new project, but knowing how dedicated he's been with all his philanthropic ventures so far, it's bound to be a success.

He's also got his own clean water initiative, 501CTHREE.org’s Water Box project, which provides access to clean water to underserved communities. It was featured in New Balance’s new We Got Now video campaign, which also features NBA champ Kawhi Leonard, sprinter Sydney McLaughlin, tennis star Coco Gauff, football player Sadio Mané and professional skateboarders Tiago Lemos and Margie Dida. Its goal is to encourage people to come together to change the world.

“I love New Balance,” Smith said in a press release. “They’re family. I’m always working on some New Balance-related thing.”

In the fall, as part of the clean water initiative, Smith partnered with Lyft and the Will & Jada Smith Family Foundation to offer thousands of dollars in free rides to those in need, including people in Flint, Michigan, where access to clean water is still low.

In a statement at the time, Smith said, “Proud to be partnering with Lyft on their LyftUp initiative. Together, we’ll be providing rides to communities who need them most. In Flint, these rides will be used so community members can access clean, fresh water through our 501CTHREE.org partners. In Los Angeles, we’ll focus on providing rides to grocery stores, clean water and jobs for the residents of Skid Row through our I LOVE YOU community partners. We believe in the power of transportation, and that access to a ride can mean access to an opportunity.”
