If you spent the entire weekend watching the Friends Reunion on Crave, you probably aren’t alone. But if you also happened to dust off the dancing shoes to reenact Monica and Ross’s iconic dance routine from the series, then you are definitely not alone.

Over the weekend, Courteney Cox celebrated the show’s reunion with an extra special goodie for fans: the recreation of her Season 6 dance with co-star David Schwimmer, The Routine. And while Schwimmer wasn’t there to bust out his own dance moves, he had a stellar substitute in Ed Sheeran.

“Just some routine dancing with a friend…” Cox captioned the Instagram video of herself and Sheeran recreating the routine. Or as she hashtags it, the #ReRoutine. In the video, Cox proves she’s still got it, and Sheeran does a pretty decent job of keeping up with her—right up until they get ready for the jump and then they both topple over laughing.

In case you were wondering, the ReRoutine video clearly made many fans’ lives on Sunday when Cox dropped it. Since then it has been liked more than 9 million times on Instagram, it started trending on Twitter, and plenty of celebrity Friends fans were quick to share their own excitement over the dance, too.

“I’ve never been more jealous of anything in my life,” Schitt’s Creek star Sarah Levy wrote. “This is EPIC,” added Kaley Cuoco. “This is amazing,” chimed in Queer Eye star Tan France.

The Routine was one of many moments featured in the Friends Reunion. Originally, the bit of comedic gold was scripted for “The One With the Routine” episode, when siblings Monica and Ross decided to bust out their old moves in hopes of getting a platform spot on the set of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. (They wanted to get on TV to make their parents jealous.)

Following the choreographed bit, a producer finally allowed them a spot of honour, but unbeknownst to them, it was for the blooper reel.

So why did Sheeran do the dance with Cox, you ask? The pair are actually good friends, who met years ago when she was working on Cougar Town. At the time show creator, Bill Lawrence and his wife Christa Miller (who also starred in the series) invited Sheeran to a party at Cox’s house.

They hit it off, and Sheeran later stayed at Cox’s house when he was working on his 2014 album, X. The performer is also the one who introduced Cox to her current boyfriend, musician Johnny McDaid. “We are certainly grateful to Ed for introducing us,” Cox told The Sun in 2015.

“My housemate Johnny, who I've lived with for a year, I introduced him to Courteney Cox. They started dating and are crazy about each other,” Sheeran once told OMG! Insider. “I ended up spending a lot of time living in her beach house and therefore bumping into all these random people. We spent Thanksgiving eve at Jennifer's before spending the day at Courteney's.”

In other words, they’ve also had a lot of time to practice The Routine together.
